How long does it take for your body to absorb calories?
Yeah, as it says on the tin - How long does it take for your body to absorb calories?
Thanks Girlies ♥
umm... as soon as your stomach starts emptying... like, a few minutes? 5-10? but don't worry, it's an ongoing process so it takes a few hours (depending on protein/fat content, consistency, etc) for ALL the calories to absorb.
a tip is to eat something low cal FIRST as a cushion, cuz it won't matter if that gets absorbed..:Strong and Beautiful:.
OK, so basically your body starts to absorb some of the calories straight away? Eeeek!
I suppose it also depends on what food it is you've just eaten and how much, yes?
Thanks again hun xx

hey, im studyin dentistry at uni so we learn about the digestive system. i always read online and in help leaflets that calories are absorbed immediately, this however simply isnt true. i think the drs lie to us to try and stop our bulimia!
your body starts to BREAK DOWN the food as soon as it enters ur mouth. it then takes 10 mins for the food to move down ur oesophagous and into ur stomach where it get broken down some more. NOTHING has been absobed so far only broken down. so now is the time to be sick and ul be fine. once food moves into the small intestine it then starts to get absorbed. this can take upto a few hours tho. but it does depend on the content of the food. you will find carbs are absored quie quickly
hope that helps.
Dose it matter if its something like soup, where its not really a soild.
or something like toast etc.In To My Eyes.
