i have no use for a microwave, thus i do not own one. however, I do view microwaved food as "dead" food. dead nutrient-wise. plus, i think microwaving alters the appearance of food by making it less appetizing for me (veggies become dull in color etc)

I agree with you Shanna that microwaved food is "dead food." I believe humans were meant to eat mainly raw food (mostly vegan) and that it is the healthiest diet a person can adopt. I do feel that microwaves alter the molecular structure of your food and contaminate it with radiation, but also think it is not terrible for you if used sporadically. I only use the microwave on binge food. Something I know is bad for me already ):

I didn't have a microwave until someone brought me one... I only use it to defrost food that I have forgotten to take out in time, and given that I am TOTALLY neurotic, this doesn't happen very often! I call microwaved food 'nuked'... as to me that is precisely what a microwave does to food. DOWN WITH MICROWAVES!

Microwaving food does not 'destroy' nutrients more so than any other form of cooking. And there have been studies, that show that people actually eat more cooked vegetables versus non cooked vegetables so you end up getting equal nutrient value from both. Microwaves also do not contaminate your food with radiation. It's the wrong frequency. They are radio waves, radio waves are non-ionizing, thus cannot contaminate your food or change the molecular structure of food.

Thankyou for actually thinking about this rather than reading an article and jumping to conclusions.
I think microwaving may not be the healthiest method of cooking, but I smoke a packet of cigarettes a day, binge drink, starve myself and don't get enough sleep. So I think the microwave is Probably the least deadly of my health faux pas.Of all the words of mice and men, the saddest are, "It might have been.”

There was something going around a while back showing this experiment with plants. You get two seeds and water one with water that has been boiled in a pan/kettle (Let it cool obviously) and the other you feed with water boiled in a microwave. Apparently the one you feed with microwaved water either doesnt grow at all or grows all disfigured and warped.
No idea if it's true though : /Available shoulder/rant listener/hug giver! Just pm/chat or msg me on FB or Skype!
