Abilify and valproic acid

My dr prescribed these to me and iv looked on the net alot but I though I'd ask you guys if you've amen these Kees before if so at what dose and what side effects did you experience.
My dr wants me to take 250mg twice a day of the acid and 5mg of abilify for one week then up to 10mg
I'm afraid to take he acid because of the weight gain so I'm just going to start with the abilify for awhile and see how that goes I can't handle any more weight gain right now. And yes I tried to tell him but he said It was that or lithium and I know lithium makes u balloon!!

I'm on 20mg of Abilify & it's helped me a lot.No weight gain at all,moods more stablized,depression less crippling.
As for the valproic acid, it does not cause weight gain. It only retains the salt in your body/ highers the colestherol ( I'm sorry, I don't remember which one of these), but on the scale the number will be a bit higher, but it doesn't mean it's pure fat. I was on it for some time and I didn't like it at all: too much sedation, exhaustion and no feelings at all. But Risperidal was guilty too for these side effects. You might want to give it a shot though, if it was prescribed for you, it might help you. As I said, it doesn't really cause fat gain, just water retention.
