Default My cat is on to something!

My family has two cats, and one of them is acting very strange.
Whenever my mom makes dinner, she and my dad often eat together. I usually eat and snack seperetly while she is preparing the dinner and purge while they are in the kitchen eating. ANYWAY, whenever I purge during this time, my cat is very bothersome. I go to the bathroom that is inside my moms room so nobody hears me, it is on the opposite side of the apartment from the kitchen. My cat starts meowing by the door, he does this every time he catches me. Today I shood him out of the room, and went back into the bathroom to purge. He went down the hallway meowing non stop TO MY PARENTS while they ate dinner. Luckily they ignored him and he came back into the room and stood by the door until I finished, and then meowed at me a few times when I came out. He has an angelic soft voice of a female kitten so I felt pretty bad.
Also when he sees me eating he always wants to see what it is, even though 90% of the time he will just look at it, smell it, and walk away.
Do your pets ever act weird when you binge/purge? Do they see you doing it?
I don't think cats have thougts like humans, because they don't have much of a language and can communicate with each other in a limited way. And without words there can't the same thoughts we have. BUT they have emotions like worry or curiosity.

that is really strange, you know when people say that when your ill or feeling sad that cats often come to you and comfort you? maybe this is some sort of same thing, couldnt think of anything else.

well my experiences aren't ED related, but with my first pregnancy my cat kept waking me up in the middle of the night by jumping on me. I miscarried that pregnancy in my 3rd month. It was almost like he knew and was trying to tell me there was something wrong with the pregnancy. Now of course that's us talking about it in hindsight...it was probably not even related but he had never done that before, and hadn't done it since. He would do it every night at one point.

With my 3rd pregnancy (finally a viable one) the day before and day of my water breaking he wouldn't leave me alone. He was on me ALL DAY literally, like he was on guard duty or something. If I got up to pee or make food or whatever, even if I was gone for 30 seconds he'd follow me close at my heels. Watched me do everything. Then got back on me. He was a cuddly affectionate cat but it was overkill on those two days. It was funny.

Again, could be unrelated...but with that time it totally seemed like he was protecting me. I remember thinking, holy shit I think it's going to happen very soon (among my physical signs that I obsessed about lol).

I have 3 cats and one of them did exactly what yours is doing.
He would meow at me while I was on the way to the bathroom to purge. A couple of times he shoved his way into the bathroom before I shut the door, and would rub up on my legs while I purged and climb up on top of the toilet to stop me. I had to take him out of the bathroom to continue purging.
Now he waits for me, quietly, outside the bathroom every time I purge. When I finish he always wants a cuddle and he'll sit on my lap purring for ages.
He's always been affectionate but the purring and cuddling is new and only happens when I purge something.
It breaks my heart! He looks at me with such a sad, sad expression and I keep apologizing to him.

One of our cats with walk back and forth in the hallway meowing while I'm purging and he's done the pushing his way into the bathroom thing before too.Or house is pretty small and he's a loud one,so everyone can hear him and occasionally they'll come to shush him which could obviously draw attention to me if I didn't notice someone coming and they heard. :/

Wow some amazing cat stories going on here, incredibly intelligent animals.

My aunt had this cat that had a litter of kittens. They would all come close to her and get milk from her teets, and she wouldn't let his one kitten have any of it. She always pushed it away. My aunt got annoyed and said to her 'fine. if you don't want to look after her, i will!' and started bottle feeding it.
Later, the kitten died. It's like the cat knew it was ill, and didn't want to get close to it so she could be strong for her other babies.

Anyways.. to answer the question. My cat has seen me purge and she doesn't mind. Don't think she understands.

My cat did this type of thing too. Don't know why.
So now I make him come in there with me and lock the door.
I tell my people, "oh he just is wanting the faucet on."

My cat's do this too! it makes me so sad, I'm kind of happy they can't speak english because the thing's they'd say,the secret's they'd tell.

And I guess this must sound funny....but my cat's are so weird. We have two cats (and always have). One is Sabrina and she's been around forever, and the second cat ends up changing (because they're outdoor cats I guess). My mom and I have always had this idea that the second cat is always scared by our dog or stays out too long...but one day someone jokingly said to my mom "What if the first cat always gets rid of all the second cats?"

And now whenever I see my cat's sluething around the corner and staring at the other cat I can't help but think that each cat is a secret spy or something o.O

(I feel like I sound crazy but I swear I'm really not)
