Dorm Bulletin Boards. TW for numbers
I live in a dorm and the bulletin board the Community Assistant puts up is right by my door. The bulletin board currently has "what is your new years resolution?" on it and the only remark on it is in big bold black lettering right next to my door is "Lose 20 lbs!" Since I live at the end of the hall, I see this every single time I go to my room. It triggers me really badly, if I have to go to my room before a meal, I'll end up not eating. I have lost 10 pounds since we got back form break, I am now 5 from my low weight. I was in self recovery but I'm relapsing pretty bad, I know that their are other factors but seeing this one thing every day is Not helping. I don't know what to do, I mean the person that wrote it has every right to hir goal, and to wright it on the public bulletin board. It's just, I want to lose too, even though losing that amount would put me in the seriously under weight category. When ever I see it I just want to give up on being healthy and just get tinny.

Is there a way you can talk to your RA about moving that bulletin board else where and they can make it an informational bulletin board or something? Even though the student who posted that resolution has every right to post it, if it is hindering your recovery then it might be best it is moved.
I have had a similar issue before. On the bulletin board right outside of my door, there are question blurbs with people's favorite foods/foods to make. Also in my "brothers" dorm, the female bathrooms had how to eat healthy signs up all over. It was triggering, yes. Since I am barely in my room, I just try to forget about the posters and signs I see.I have too many disorders.

I guess what really bothers me is that their are literally no other resolutions up. Which makes me think both "really, no one on my floor thinks that their is anything else they want to change in their lives that they think is worthy to be shared with others? Losing ten pounds is the only thing people are proud they are going to try to do?" and "I wish people thought this was an acceptable goal for me, instead of having to hide it." I know I should talk to the RA, but that would require telling them about my ED... which, I don't want to do. I guess I'm really just being a winy baby about the whole thing.

Well if anything, you can just make up a resolution and put it up. Or talk to your RA saying you think more people should be involved and put things on the bulletin board. Also, I know it can be hard when people know about your ED. If anything you can say you have had "issues with food" and it is better now (even if it's not) and you just don't want any triggers. I know it is good to let those who can help know but if you are still put off by the idea, there are ways to get around telling others.
Also I know how you feel on it being an acceptable resolution or not for us. I feel the same thing. Sometimes I wish I didn't have to hide it, but I know that it can't be out in the open.I have too many disorders.
