Finally got an appointment with my GP since last May
Right, I saw my GP today mainly about the constant passing out that keeps happening to me. My ED Dr told me to go and ask for an ECG to be done.
My GP had a registrer in training to be a GP in her consultation room. Of course she asked if I wanted her to leave or if it was ok for her to stay. I allowed her to stay. My GP checked my pulse, but wasn't too sure so she asked the other lady to have a go with the stethoscope to check for any heart murmurs...didn't have any
very happy. In all my pulse was checked 4 times. Like last time she told me my heart rate was low....I'm finally going to have an ECG done in two weeks time. My GP said, she wants me to have an EEG as well, because she thinks it might be neurological. That will be sometime after the ECG & follow up appointment.
I'm just so glad that I was given an appointment after so long. This passing out thing has been seriously inconveniencing all areas of my life. I just need the cause to be found and hopefully be fixed so I can live a normal (ish) life.Last edited by HiLz; 02-03-2012 at 04:47 PM.
Contradiction.
My Life is Split in Two.
Rational & Irrational.
It is a Contradiction.

I'm glad they didn't find a heart murmur and you were able to get an appointment. I hope they figure out your passing out issue.
I have had the same issue since I was about 11 and still have it.
You should definitely research 'neurally mediated hypotension'. It causes fainting after standing for periods of time, especially when in a hot shower for example. It causes a drop in blood pressure when most peoples blood pressure would actually rise to help them stand longer. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be much treatment except not standing up for a long time and trying to drink more water and have more sodium. You should see a doctor about this too, if the EKG doesn't show anything abnormal. Normally I think you would see a neurologist or just your GP and then they'll do a tilt table test.
Good luck!

I'm glad for you too, that you were able to get an appointment. I know how frustrating it can be to wait for months and months for some sort of help.
The river it spoke to me, and told me I was small, and I swallowed it down
