Intimidating members
Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I'm not looking for trouble, but this is the 'rant an rave' forum so I'm gonna... Well... Rant and rave...
I'm just getting so wound up by the cliques of members who're going around the forums, bitching and insulting other members who they don't actually know anything about. Fair enough, if someone is clearly a troll just trying to stir shit up, burn them to your heart's content... But bear in mind, this IS a forum for people with mental illnessesand, you don't know what affect your throw away comments could have.
For example, I suffer from an anxiety disorder. I can't stand the idea that someone might get a negative impression of me or that I might say or do something stupid that I then can't just take back or ignore, and the paranoia and anxiety that results from these situations can just knock me into downers for days. I replay them in my head over an over for days, wishing i'd done something differently and just working myself up into a panic attack.
The other day I got a couple of shitty comments making, what I felt were, quite personal attack on me. I cant forget it and i feel like everyone on these boards now thinks im a fucking idiot, even though most of them probably wont have seen the comment... I dont know, maybe I was just over thinking it...
So now I'm too fucking paranoid to make posts about how I'm actually feeling or asking for help because I'm afraid I'll just get ridiculed. It just pisses me off...
I was a member on here a couple of years ago, and it used to be that you could just be comfortable enough to say what was on your mind and other members would respond considerately and with respect.
Shit, maybe I should just man the fuck up.

I understand what your saying and to some degree I feel the same way. However this IS the internet , even though its a support forum there will always always be people you may not get along with. Bear in mind the intimidating members are probably under a lot of stress ( not that you or anybody else here isn't ) but different people cope with it differently and in different ways.
Try not to take things to personally
, you don't have to be friends with those people.
You can never put your life in another persons hands . Why you ask? Because humans are not perfect , eventually in one way or another they will let you down ; its not sad it just is. I only I am the master of my domain , wherever I am now I put myself here.

LOL I KNOW where you're coming from with this one...I had a few trolls that would NOT get off my back about shit...it's really sad that some people with "disorders" get off on insulting and harassing other members...pitiful if you ask me.

^ yup, and every where you go there will be someone, no matter how right you are, someone will want to correct you, be a know-it-all, want to be silly etc.
The problem is that what you said, thinking into it too much. This is the internet and anything goes. Laugh things off and move on to something else

True, people have a different view of things.
Sometimes i write comments, thinking it's all right, and actually for other people it's very attacking.
I'm sorry if i ever hurt someone.
what make me sick is: ok i maybe said something wrong, but people don't need to threaten me and insult me.Be careful with your thoughts, they can start an action.

I don't care if it's the internet. It's sad that some people can't chill out when this is an eating disorders forum. There are plenty of other forums to play snarky popularity games on. It's the reason I was hesitant to go from lurker to member for years. Sometimes I'd see stuff that was just brutally attacking, mostly the same group of people on new members.... but I never say anything because it's too much effort to type up a response and bicker on the internet... I don't know how they do it.

Unfortunately being an Internet group you will get a range of people with different views and tolerances. With it being a group aimed at people who have difficulties it narrows the field to people who are naturally unhappy about themselves and can also be quite defensive ( best defence is attack). I can understand your difficulty and I admire your courage to write such a post, I just wish that people would get on better and accept each other, but sadly this may never be the case.

I haven't had an encounter with anyone posting in this thread apart from Daughter_Of_Flynn who was acting ridiculous. She was also rude to a suicidal member.
But anyhow, people will speak up when inapt things are spoken of, like tip giving or anything remotely related to promoting ED behavior that could harm someone or potentially cause a fatality. People need to realize that they need to be careful about the advice they give, because it could be the last thing they ever say to that person. You can not imagine the immensity of the fuck I do not give.
