It can increase anxiety, but that's in rare cases as well as in cases where one is misdiagnosed. In someone that is truly suffering from the disorder(s), even a low dose can dramatically improve one's general day to day life.
And to my dear Bath-poop: I've never personally had an addiction with either Strattera or Adderall because it was helping. So long as I followed my prescribed dose daily, it did help me with my concentration and leveled me out. Right now I'm not currently on either medication due to funds and finding a doctor in the area that understands that not every person that walks into their office is trying to just get drugs.
I'm fairly certain there are quite a few here though that use the medication(s) purely for "uppers" though, and as desperate attempts to lose 5lbs. It can depend on your personality as a whole though at times when dealing with medications like the two mentioned; if you have an addictive personality, you may very well attempt to take more than the recommended dose because you think you need it. It really depends upon the person and if they truly have ADD/ADHD.

I wonder how much the testing has changed if it has at all?

I'm unsure to if the test has changed or not, I've not been retested in 6 years. I do recall the test is much different between when I was tested at 8 years of age as opposed to when I was tested again at 19.
As for what Elz said, so many people just do only quizzes and because they picked the "right"(or "wrong" depending on how desperate they are to have an excuse for their actions) answers, they self-diagnose instead of getting an actual medical opinion. Most of them wouldn't dare actually undergoing the real testing though because they'd see what a fraud they are. Much easier to come onto sites like these and claim to have every disorder under the sun so long as they keep their story (lies) straight.
