ADD/ADHD and ED's
As some of you probably know, ADD/ADHD commonly occurs with anxiety and depression. According to numerous articles, apparently it can also co-exist with eating disorders.
I have ADHD, and am reluctantly considering medication to see if it makes any positive difference.
Just out of curiosity, how many of you here have been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD or suspect that you may have it?
EDIT: Hahaha, I just realized I wrote a part of this thread wrong. Fixed the mistake

I was tested and diagnosed with ADD with slight hyperactivity when I was in my 3rd year of university. Was on Ritalin for a couple of years.

I'm considering giving Ritalin a go, but I'm a bit hesitant.
Did it work for you?

I was diagnosed with ADD at a late age (high school). I spent two years trying different medications that failed time after time. Most people find success with medication. The most prescribed these days is Adderal and Stratera, which seem to have amazing results. Unfortunately for me, they had no effect after being in my system for less than 2 weeks. Luckily, I found smoking weed helped in the focus department. Only downside is its legal status in the states.
Doesn't hurt to try to control one's ADD/ADHD. Just be honest with your doctor about how the medication is affecting you so dosage can be adjusted or a new medication can be tried. You'll find what works for you, but it will take some persistence.Pattern making is an art. Every piece of meat is different, it has a different personality, a different scent or soul. I was diagnosed with ADHD recently, when I started grad school. Wish I had known before! I'm also looking into medication, but we are trying to treat the Panic Disorder first to see if that helps, since anxiety can make ADHD problems (like concentration) worse.
Unfortunately, do far I've been pretty sensitive to the rotten medication side effects of a few different drugs. So whileI think meds for ADHD may help me, I'm nervous about trying them.
If you do try meds, stay informed! Side effects can come and go, and you may attribute them to other causes if you don't know it's a possible SE of the medication you're taking.

I've always suspected that I've had it.. friends joke about it with me. I never actually looked into it. Maybe I should? Does ADD/ADHD interfere with sleep patterns at all [ie. chronic insomnia]?

Ritalin is typically prescribed for adolescents, but we're in different countries. Haha.
Adderall can be very helpful for those that do have ADD, but will make you out of your mind if you're taking it without having ADD. As far as I know, with adults and ADD medication, you'll be started out on a pretty low dose and be monitored so that it's not affecting you negatively.

GOOD. My doctor tends to over-prescribe things as a "precaution" when it's really just about getting commission from prescribing medications lol.
If she doesn't automatically give me a low dose I'll request one.
Has anyone had a problem with addiction while on ADD/ADHD medications?
