It's Like My Body is Punishing Me
I've attempted diet after diet since I was seven years old. Every summer I usually spend at least one month on a diet. The problem is, my blood sugar always gets really low within hours after I eat healthy (more vegetables, less sugar, lean protein, etc.). I get so shaky that I either faint or have to eat something sweet to move on.
I'm on day three of my latest diet and I had a binge today because I got so hungry and shaky. I feel disgusting, plus I'm worried about gaining anything I did lose back twofold. For example, on Weight Watchers, I lost 65 pounds, withdrew because of the shaking thing, and regained 90 pounds (started at 263 lb, dropped to 198 lb, currently at 290 lb). I'm so afraid to eat every day because I'm worried I'll have a binge and gain more weight.
Why is this happening to me, even when I lose weight the "healthy" way?

Your body isn't punishing you. It's protecting itself. Starvation leads to binging. It's simple. I don't know what you define as the "healthy" way to lose weight but perhaps if you are overweight, go seek medical help for guidance on how to get into a healthy weight range.

I do understand that my body is trying to protect itself. It just feels like it's punishing me, because I'm trying to follow the food guide pyramid only to get really sick in the process.
I have gone to doctors and nutritionists before, and all they tell me is "eat more veg, less fried foods and Cokes, etc." One nutritionist thinks that my case is mostly biological and that it's extreme enough for weight loss surgery to be a serious option, but my parents don't have the insurance for it anyway.

Perhaps go to a dietitian and get a meal plan which you can follow. That way, decisions are made for you and you don't feel so overwhelmed with what you have to do.

I'm sorry you feel that way love.
I don't know what to tell you..
But I do think, that you should work on making your first-and-foremost goal be to get healthy, rather than to lose weight.
I feel like its so much easier to be excited about it, and especialy stick with a diet, when you know your doing it for that reason.
Also - your doctors are right; less fried foods, and coke and things - but see, if that's what your body is used to having, it's not gonna be pretty if you try to stop all at once... Maybe just make small steps, every week?
Like. Maybe this week, start working on not eating McDonald's?
And then the next, All fast food places, ect?
You don't need to go from eating an SAD to eating nothing but fruits and veggies, in a day - there's about a .001% chance of that actually working.
Getting healthy will be hard, though.... You just have to stick with it,, because you know you will be happier, have more energy, more self confidence - all of that once you make it.
Also - if you are afraid of gaining fat, try working out (if you don't already) - the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn, no matter what you are doing...and therefore, it will be easier for you to maintain weight.
Good luck Hun...and if you ever need someone to talk to - I don't know whether I'll be able to relate or offer you all THAT much advice.... But I am always here to listen, and try and help however I can <3
Have a good dayy.[you are loved]

Do you know if you have insulin resistance? I have pcos and it's one of the symptoms of that.
After you eat a meal you body produces insulin to get the sugar out of your blood and in to your cells, but if you have insulin resistance your blood sugar stays high and the pancreas produces more and more insulin to respond and eventually due to the excess insulin blood sugar goes Lower than normal and you can get all shaky.
I live in England so healthcare is free but they put me on a drug called metformin which increases the cells sensitivity to insulin. It also helps with weight loss because high insulin levels promote fat storage...
But you might not have IR it was just a suggestion cause a similar thing was happening to me.
Good luck with everything anyway“Well," said Pooh, "what I like best," and then he had to stop and think. Because although Eating Honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began to eat it which was better than when you were, but he didn't know what it was called.”
