    Default Food to battle constipation??help

This is horrible I've never been so constipated in my entire life...A whole week has passed since I've last gone and mind you..I've binged 6 days ago and have eaten "normally" the rest of the days.I do eat fresh fruit(oranges, kiwi, tangerines, apples) vegs(broccoli, spinach, carrots, green peas) and also oatmeal.I really don't know what to do anymore.Laxatives are not an option because I don't want to mess with that.Any other low cal food suggestions that might help? I'm desperate....

Maybe you could add a tablespoon of flax seed to your oatmeal, or add a tablespoon to your yogurth or just drink it :P. It should add barely any calories but is very rich fiber and often used to help with stool. You could also try something like prume-sirup or something. Dont think that will be low kcal tho

Do you drink enough water? If you don't, eating fiber-rich foods may make your problem worse.
Another thing that helps things out is having some fats in your diet, such as olive oil.
As foor lowcal foods...what work with me are pears, Activia yoghurt, fennels, aubergines, beans and dried fruit.
    One step at a time.

This happened to me, I went a week without then was able to go, then went another week.
It helps to drink warm fluids such as lukewarm water or tea. Try adding some juice from a fresh lemon to warm water every morning. Prune juice really helps if you can manage 1-2 glasses a day. Seems like you eat a lot of veg/fruit, but not a whole lot of grains? That may be a contributer. It might help if you aim to have 4-6 WHOLE grain servings a day. I know this might not be low-cal, but would you rather be constipated for several more days and feel gross, or eat balanced so you can go sooner?

There a herbal teas that say laxative on them but don't have the bad stuff or dependency as REAL laxatives. I bought some a while ago but haven't used it yet. It's about $5 for 20 tea bags.

I really like fibre 1 cereals and bars. It's great if you mix prebiotic yogurt with it.

Another things that can help get things moving is light exercise and stretching. Yoga is REALLY good for the digestive system, I know from experience. Try some Hatha yoga 20-30 minutes and finish with 5-10 minute stretches every other day. There is actually on particular move for the digestive system. Lay on your back with hands at your side. Contract your abs and lift your legs almost a foot off the ground. Hold for 30 seconds, and repeat 2-3 times a day.

    Short walks may help too

If you have any other questions please feel free to PM me. I know a lot about natural reliefs from personal experience.

I'm just drinking some prune juice now...and I made it from 4 prunes(20c a piece); I can handle that.I've been doing Hatha for 3 months now 3 x per week. And I walk and run and exercise everyday...I tried the lemon it was a saviour but my GERD doesn't like it,I actually had such chestpains from it that I thought it was my heart lol.So overall only these prunes are and option...because I just cannot have that much carbs I'd rather stay constipated lol

ok, so this is gonna be diffucilt to write in english, but Psyllium shells (i have no idea if there is another english word - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psylliu...etary_psyllium) is a really good thing.
It is like a kind of powder or coarse flour - I guess you can buy it at a health food store or large supermarkets.
You add one tablespoon to a glass of water, stir a lot and drink it - it is quite gross.
Afterwards you will have to drink to drink a lot of water, since the seeds are pure fiber so they suck the water from your body and makes everything worse if you don't. But with a lot of water it works very well, low calories and much better than chemical laxatives.

Dried fruit... a lot of it. Although i won't normally eat it because i worry about the cals in it, if i ever get constipated, i eat like half a bag of it in the morning, and by the evening i can go to the toilet, so by then, problemo is solved for moi .
