Default Going vegan for the right reasons

I want to be a vegan for ACTUAL health reasons, cost reasons, and to help the environment and animals, and I've wanted this for awhile. But I'm currently in the early stages of recovery and people who hear of my desire to be a vegan think it either is an excuse to relapse or that it will make me relapse. How do I convince them that I'm doing it for the right reasons? And how do I keep myself from relapsing like they fear? I don't see how I could possibly fixate on food any more than I already do so that wouldn't trigger anything.

Maybe you could show them how much you can still eat being a vegan and also the nutritional information of what you would eat.
