ADHD/ADD medication
I made a post a while ago asking about Concerta because I might get it for ADD. Which I got last night and started this morning.
I was just wondering anyone else's experiences (good and bad) with this or a similar medication?
I feel good, I have energy, I can focus a little better. I'm on a low dose right now and we are increasing it in 7 days then one more time a week after that.
Concerta is only effective for 10 hours. So I was wondering how it feels once it wears out or if you still feel it? And is there an ADD medication that's more extended release that stays in your system?
Oh, and so far it isn't affecting my appetite. I'm still getting hungry at the right times. But that could change when I increase? I'm still going to eat though even if I'm not hungry because I know it's the medication.bemyfriend

What do you do when you become too scared, too scared to live, too scared to die, too scared to love, too scared to even care?
All you must do is breathe and take it one moment at a time. We are strong and deserve to find true happiness <3

Does the doctor who prescirbed your Concerta know about your ED? I feel like I could really benefit from ADD medications (I've taken friend's adderall, and it doesn't make me shaky or jittery, just increasses my usually 30-minute attention span to a 2 hour one, so much better for studying!) but according to my psychiatrist, all of those medications are contraindicated for people with a history of ED's and they won't seriously discuss them for me.

The psychiatrist who gave Concerta to me has been seeing me since I was 7 or 8. I don't see her that often though. But yeah she knows about my ED. She claims in every ADD/ADHD medication there is a "sweet spot" dosage that won't affect your appetite or make you too hyper but still help with attention and energy levels. Most Doctors hate trying to find this "sweet spot" byt my psychiatris is very good at fine tuning medication.
I suggest trying to get an apt with a psychiatristm may be a couple months wait but is worth it.bemyfriend

Ive tried multiple medications for ADD over the years. Wellbutrin just made me really irritable and did little for my attention. Strattera made me feel like I had metaphorical blinders on and I would end up really concentrating on unimportant things. The Ritalin I'm on now is helping but I've become adjusted so we either have to go up or try something else. As for extended release both Wellbutrin and Strattera stay in your system longer and they can take longer to notice a difference.
