I agree with this. And I also agree that social anxiety is a part of it.
I haven't managed to pinpoint all the reasons I binge/compulsively over-eat. But I know part of it is that I don't feel emotionally satisfied (loved, nurtured, cared for). The only way I know how to comfort myself is by stuffing my face.ED-NOS and I... We're the bingers, the purgers, the restricters. We're just like you, the unofficial, unformal, undiagnosable undiagnosed you.

Loneliness, low self esteem, bad luck, lack of money, no true relationships, friends, love, ect= there you go. These things cause depresion. When you're depresed your depresion can develop to eating dissorders and just make you more depresed. But most of people are depresed before developing an eating disorder. When you're happy , you love yourself and there is no need for binging/ starving. Well that's just my opinion.

I binge when I'm sad, angry, depressed just as often as when I'm happy, excited and in a good mood. Eating is my high and I don't have to be depressed to engage in it.

What comes first 'the chicken or the egg?'
Personally, depression was a symptom of my eating disorder... but of course I see how it works the other way round.“Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.”
"I hope we start seeing forever, instead of what we can gain in a day"
"If you're tired of starting over, stop giving up!"
“Even if you stumble, you’re still moving forward.”
