Cheap but healthy?
I'm in my first year of uni (in the uk) and I'm trying to eat healthy so I can lose some weight.
Only problem is, if I buy tonnes of fresh fruit and veg it's expensive and doesn't last all week (I'm on a budget & go food shopping every weekend).
I used to eat a LOT of pasta but I'm trying to limit myself to one or two pasta meals a week!
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for cheap foods or recipes that are low cal/healthy?
(I don't eat potato by the way)Fall down seven times, stand up eight.

Rice... lentils... beans... (all pretty versatile, cheap & longlasting)with veg (fresh/tinned/frozen) to supplement.
Eggs are always good too

I used to take containers to the dining hall and load up at the salad bar. Technically "stealing", I suppose, but I paid for a meal plan I hardly used, and you do what you've got to do. They throw those veggies away anyways. I would load up on carrot sticks and cucumbers, and sort of munchies.
I don't want to be a product of my environment. I want my environment to be a product of me.
Thank you for letting me share.

Canned or frozen veggies are usually cheaper than fresh ones in most places.
If you have access to a stove then dry beans in bags, spices, bagged rice, canned tomato sauce, and cheap canned vegetables are definitely something I'd recommend stocking up on. If you have those items in stock then there are a ton of different meals you can create with more than enough for left overs to freeze and eat throughout the week. You end up saving money and half the time you can just reheat things you might have cooked earlier in the week so you can save time as well.

Because everyone else already said things I was going to say I instead found these sites and you might find them helpful or not... Not all of them are "healthy" but they are cheap and good.

Oatmeal!
Try a big container of oatmeal! There are so many breakfasts in each container and if you buy the instant kind you don't even need a microwave, just hot water. It's a little plain so you would really benefit from a thing of cinnamon as well and maybe some apples stolen from the school's cafeteria. You can cut them up and throw them in there.
Make Yourself.

good answers has been said already.
shop at supermarkets and go for the stores brand or the value brand. things like beans can be value, do you really notice a difference with Heinz?
Get the essentials every week, bread, rice, pasta, tinned fruit and veggies, frozen veg, meat, milk, butter, eggs, yoghurt etc.
look for your local fruit and veg market. these are usually cheaper than markets. try out new fruit and veg thats in this season.
pay attention to the reduced items stock. only buy what you need.
as well as shopping around different supermarkets, go shop around town to the cheapy store like pound shops, other than food you can get essentials for the house cheaper here too. like toilet roll, normal shop - bag of 4 = £2.50+ cheap shop in town - bag of 9 - £2. overall that one has better quality too? don't make sense.
if you can supermarket shop online, try that. Best wishes.

RE:
You can have salads as carrot, beat are not very expensive.
Even you can drink a glass of milk.
Make a habit to eat junk foods twice a week.
