I was just wondering if anyone knew if doing daily enema cleansing is as effective as using laxatives, as well as if using the two in combination would hurt the intestine.

Laxatives & Enemas
(Someone correct me if I'm wrong, I'm going strictly off personal experience.)
If I remember right, somewhere I read that you shouldn't use an enema more than you need to, meaning when you're backed up over several days. Laxatives and enemas both stimulate the intestines, specifically the lower, and essentially pull water into it and 'flush you out.' That's why when they do them at the hospital it's like one-two boom.
Laxatives, depending on which one you use, can take 6-12 hours to produce a movement, or even days. Again, they really shouldn't be used unless needed. Fiber supplements do the job as naturally as possible if you're in a bind, but those take a few days to produce results, too.
If you're really in a pickle and looking for a quick cleanse of the lower end, maybe a suppository is more 'up your alley?' (Bad pun, sorry.) I've used them from time to time when I wouldn't have a movement in almost a week, or when I flat out felt sluggish and couldn't get anything out though I knew it was there.
Curious, what kind of laxatives are you considering using?I set fire to the rain.

You better believe that it's horribly dangerous to use the two at the same time.
The person who replied above me is right. You should not be using laxatives or enema's, unless you have not been able to go to the bathroom for a few days without them.
Laxatives and enema's stimulate the intestines and over time, and increased use of abuse, your intestines will start to be dependent on them, and you will have to increase your dose.
There is nothing good about using laxatives. I abused them for quite some time a long time ago, and it ended up in absolute disaster. If you'd like to know in more detail what happened exactly then send me a private message, I do not feel like discussing it.
When you are eating healthy, make sure that you are eating fiber rich foods, and also add in a fiber supplement to your daily intake. It will help more than you know.
Why were you thinking of using enema's or laxatives?
Enema's are ONLY to be USED when you haven't been able to go in a while. If you use them a lot you will lose control of your BM's and it will cause you to have to wear depends because you wont be able to hold it in. You will lose all feeling down there. DON'T USE THEM!!!! Plus depending on where you are there have been recalls of them. And seeing that your in Washington and I figure that is washington state then you really don't want to be using them right now. I work in Shoreline and we had to get rid of all of them because of a recall that happened about 6 months ago and they came out with all these new warning signs and what it will do to your body if you use them too much. I would really try and stay away from them.
