rinsing with warm milk, and eating yogurt right after, helps minimize the acid.

Have a small latch on your bathroon door as opposed to actualy locking it or using a drawer as a barrier etc. that way if things do go wrong, it wont take as long for someone to get in and they may be able to help. Remember purging is v dangerous and people do die, it is so important to remember that.

    Okay here goes
I have a greenish black stain on the inside of one of my bottom front teeth, the sharp one on the left, that I *think* has gotten worse in the past month since I've noticed it but doesn't hurt or anything. I've been purging about once a week since but don't think any of the sick hits this tooth cause it's on the bottom...anyhow...dyou reckon it's bulimia or a benign coffee stain? And would it be worth seeing the dentist if it's invisible unless you look for it and doesn't hurt or smell or anything funny?

there, that's asking for a healthy tip

If there was no death, everyone would wish for it.

well, if you can't "scratch" the stain off .. then YES, go to the dentist! I put off going to the dentist for years out of fear that he / she would KNOW just by looking at the inside of my mouth that I was bulemic ... well, if he did, he didn't say anything to me when I eventually did go in.

Had I gone earlier, I wouldn't be facing the problems I am now.

We do enough harm .. if you can help your body in this way, please do so, I know it"s scary.

It will mess up your nail after a few sessions. My nails used to be painted all the time and I would notice that the polish on my index and middle fingers get chipped. Stomach acid is strong enough to chip off your nail polish... just think about that. It's kind of scary.

    Default baking soda

I've read several places about using baking soda as a rinse after purging. Does anyone do this, and is it more effective than milk? I'm not sure which is better at neutralizing acid.

I don't know if this has already been posted, but a mixture of baking soda and water is great for neutralizing acid.

I would just like to add that swishing a teaspoon of baking soda w/water will also neutralize the acid as well

I know how hard it is, but the best thing you can do is really tell your doctor. You NEED to have blood tests regularly to check the levels of potassium in your blood (as it can be fatal and can drop VERY quickly) and your doc can also prescribe supplements such as Sando K to help maintain healthy blood levels and basically, stop you dying. Once you've told them, they know and they won't lecture you, they're doctors. They're here to help.
