    You mean catabolysis. This is not what people are refering to when they're talking about "starvation mode" in this context.

    Also, it's true about the general process, LittleFoot is right, I did a really long post about this but it's too old to find and fuck fuck i'm exhausted.

    basically yeah if you fast you will lose fat after about 4 days (in which you deplete glucose, glycogen from liver, glycogen from muscles) until you get to a "dangerous" bf% (unique to everyone) or die of mineral deficiency. But honestly, the *anaz* trying ABC etc aren't going to be doing that. Yo-yo dieting causes poorer body composition, because in BRIEF fasts and heavy restriction alternating with binges, you DO lose muscle, and it IS replaced with fat.

    so you're all more or less correct, other than a few terminology issues. this is based on grad school courses in nutrition, btw, and i'm sorry i'm not very coherent right now.

    I have an idea! I don't know if it's possible but it'd be really good if people had to post in this thread before they could post anywhere else in the forum. Seriously, the thread below this is asking if it's better to "trick your metabolism" through ABC or to fast.
