Default My sister enjoys seeing me binge eat

My sister encourages or tries to trigger my binge eating. She's overweight, and when I start losing weight, she comments on my weight loss, and tells me to eat more, and even flaunts food in front of me and continues to offer me food even though I already said no. I live with her, and I've tried to avoid her. When I eat in front of her, she offers me more food. And when I start binge eating and I say "I can't stop!" She'll respond with "good! eat more!" I'm serious. This is crazy! It's very unhealthy, but I think she loves seeing me unhappy sometimes.... or at least fat! I know some of it has to do with jealousy. She doesn't binge eat at all, but she does over eat. She'll have 2 or three servings of food but that's all. I on the other hand would stuff my face til I feel like I'm about to burst.. take a break, and do it again! And I can't believe she encourages this! Why????????????????????? I love her to death. She's my big sister, but I hate that sometimes I'm afraid to eat around her or with her, because just seeing her is starting to trigger a binge I'm going to start taking up all the food she offers, but I'm doing to flush it down the toilet. Hopefully, she'll stop offering me food if I keep accepting it instead of denying it. Sometimes I don't know how else to deal with this.

She's ashamed of her own lack of control around food and feels that if you can't control yourself either, it means she doesn't have to feel as bad. The sad truth is, she really DOESN'T have control but it's not her fault and has no reason to feel ashamed one way or another. There's no reason for her to try to trigger you. She should try to accept she has an ED and instead of trying to bring you down too.

    at least thats my theory

that seems to be the general consensus. Thanks for the feedback. But I really have to counter this somehow. I just hope she stops. Maybe then I'll have a healthier relationship with food. Who knows. It got worse when I moved in with her! ugh.

My mom is the same way...she helps me make all my binge food and sometimes even eats it with me. For example, a few days ago we ate 2 large pizzas and a pack of cookies together within ~20-30 minutes. My mom purposely brings home binge foods, and i know it's on purpose because I've tried to recover several times and told her foods I just can't have around me, and guess what she always makes sure to buy? I recently just gained a whole bunch of weight from bingeing, and she keeps telling me i look pregnant, or that I should go to the gym more often. I have a whole bunch of hair that is falling out (in handfuls) due to the stress of gaining weight and trying to recover, and she keeps telling me i'm going bald. She always points out my flaws, and when i start to binge, she is right there helping me force the food in my mouth. Then she helps me clean out the bowls of vomit I have after i throw it back up. Some people are just fucked up, and really there is nothing you can do about it. The simple fact is your sister is jealous of you, and wants you to suffer like she suffers. She'll probably keep doing it for as long as you let her, so your only real option is to stay away from her as much as possible.

    good luck

Thanks for understanding. It's nice to find someone who can relate. Her husban is coming home from Iraq tomorrow, so hopefully he'll take up her time. Honestly, sometimes he stresses her out even more, so I gotta be extra careful around her. I have to stay in my room, but even that drives me crazy! I've thought about leaving the house and staying at the mall or even library. I have a month til college starts, so hopefully I'll have a good excuse to stay away from her. I hate that it had to end up like this, but I really can't be around triggers right now. It's hard enough dealing with this on my own, and having someone encouraging it makes it terribly difficult to cope with Thanks for the support!
