Am I the only one that wants to facepalm when I go on pro-ana sites (or any site really) and the spelling is AWFUL?

SPELL CHECK. IT'S THERE FOR A REASON.

I mean, come on people! I understand that taking an extra two mins to copy/paste your writing into Word and spell-checking it is SO DIFFICULT, but NO ONE will take you seriously if you spell "hungry" as "hungery" or "calories" as "calouries".

I also understand people that have difficulty spelling for one reason or another. I can forgive those whose native language isn't English. But if it is, and you're STILL spelling like crap, there's absolutely no reason, in my mind. Maybe it's because I'm a writer, but I absolutely cannot stand it when people spell words (especially obvious ones) wrong.

Also, netspeak. It's please, not plz. You, not u. Using this in texting I can understand, but on forums and websites? Augh.

Rant over.

Netspeak bugs me too! I don't even use it in text messages.

Anyway, I'm guilty of spelling things wrong. sorry! I'm dyslexic, so spelling's never been my strong point.
Bad grammar is what bugs me.

I usually copy and paste into microsoft word and do a spell check, but I've been lazy lately

they've actually shown that people whose native language isn't English have better spelling than English speakers on the internet, simply becuase they're more worried about being precise and getting the words right.

But I do agree with you, at least TRY to spell properly. there's a girl I know, and on her facebook she always spells "my" as "mi." it makes me want to kick a puppy every time I see it.

Speaking of misspelling, has anyone else noticed how many people spell bulimia like "bullemia" (..or something similar)?

It does bother me-really bothers me in fact-but I rarely correct people on it, because they could be dyslexic, or english may not be their first language.

Simple little grammar mistakes make me die a little inside ("We could of" "People should stick to there goals" etc), but one can still understand the sentence so it's not too bad, more to do with my own neuroticism than any fault on the part of the poster. But, there is no excuse for tlkn lik dis when you have a full qwerty keyboard and a character limit in the high hundreds.
