I have just made some gorgeous veg soup, I am getting hungry on just nimble bread, so thought I would try the soup.

I put in two carrots, a parsnip, a leek, small onion, few florets of broccoli, small amount of suede a small potoato and made with veg stock (I am a veggie) it made a huge tub's worth. And I calculated it at about 300 calories? So I reckon there is about 20 odd servings.

That makes 15 calories a serving?? Does that sound right or too good to be true?

I cannot eat over 300 or so calories a day otherwise I think I have too much food inside me and purge, I also hate feeling the food so only having very small servings.

So, do you think that calorie count sounds about right? I have a huge amount of this soup and don't want to not be able to eat it because I don't trust my judgement over calories.

Thanks x

I'm not really sure to be honest... It really depends...

It could be exactly right but there are a LOT of variable factors...

Like a potato can be anywhere from 80-300 calories... (did you use a whole one...)

What kind of stock? How much vs. how much water? What was the cal content? Some has as little as 15 cals a cup vs. as much as 60 cals a cup...

How much is a serving to you? A cup? Then I don't think 15 cals is accurate cause that is probably the broth alone...

ummm...onions are fairly high cals depending on size...you said small so prob only 40 cals though...

Suede I don't know about...

Carrots, broccoli, Leeks...meh...you're good...

Parsnip I don't cook with but I think that is second rating in cal next to the potato...

So I guess you could be right on with the 15 cals or right off... Depends on the amounts... (I'd have to see it...) but I'm sure you are fine...

The only thing is the broth...and the size of your serving like I was saying...that is the kicker....

Hope that helps... ; )

(Sounds amazingly good by the way!!!)

Yum!

Ooh, I didn't think about the stock! I just checked and it is 7 cals per cube so not too bad. I'm going to make the soup again today but not with parsnip because that was the highest in calorie content I think. The potato was very small.

I probably have about 10 spoonfuls in a bowl. But I always think with whatever I eat it is going to make me put weight on. This soup didn't but after 4 days of eating it I only lost about 2lbs. I've hit a weight plateau I think.

But I will stick with it as it tasted so gorgeous and is so filling.

Thanks for replying :)
