Confused!

Last night I was talking to my boyfriend on msn
Basically I told him this:

Him: why are you upset?
Me : Well kitty thinks shes fat, kitty wants to be lose weight and be thin again, she doesn't feel happy like this but everyone will get mad if she does so.
Him : Well if thats what makes you happy then do so,
sometimes you have to put yourself before others.

I think he just gave me permission to lose weight, or is this just a ploy in hopes that i would say no i'm fine this way because he knows all about my ED. He actually met me and we first started dating at my lowest weight.

Agh why must men be so confusing

I'm asking myself what did he actually meant:that you should lose weight or that he wants you happy and in order to be happy you have to do ''bad things'' (for others).

I think he meant like if losing weight makes me happy, then I should just do what makes me happy because he will love me no matter what size I am.
Instead of trying to be what everyone else wants me to be.
