I got really angry after i saw this video, how could a fat person say something positive abt a skinny one?
They can't imagine life without eating all the time, gosh
How could a thin person be disgusting, they are disgusting..
who'd like to see them on the runway? (if these models are disgusting).. NO ONE
maybe not even themselves.. they are just too jealous that they say things like this to protect* themselves.

The vid doesn't make me angry. I think it's good not to promote unhealthy skinny. I also think that it is very wrong to judge a skinny person and assume that all skinny people are unhealthy, have mental issues or are in all cases ugly.

I'm sure that dude wants a slim girlfriend rather then an unfit one no matter what he says... and the most fat chicks are definitely jealous, so they want to set other beauty standards.

I think the point was that if you look like that it's great but don't try to look like that if you can't because... what's the point... everyone would have eds and that's not cool.

but you don't get the whole picture, you care just abt the influence the models have on young girls, but it's not their fault that their job requires to be thin, and some of them are naturally thin, and they have no eating disorder,but if they are thin,riiiight,they are anorexic bulimic etc.
How do they feel ? does anyone care?
I see on street many THIN girls and it's impossible to have an ED all.
My ex deskmate was sooooooo skinny and people laughed at her for being so skinny, and she felt the same way a fat person feels (she was naturally thin and she used to eat ALOTTT but she just couldn't gain weight.. :))))
But no, we shouldn't laugh at fat ppl, lets laugh at skinny ones coz they're disgusting.

but now i am disgusting.. coz i want ppl to understand that they are persons too.. and they have feelings.

so what if a model has an ED, whats the difference between us and her, we're all humans.

Is it weird that I really admire these girls? And some of the girls on campus around here that are a weight I would deem too heavy for myself? They don't seem to think about weight and understand the right time to eat crap and when to eat healthily. I just wish I could have enough self-esteem to just say, to hell with it, and live normally like they do. Alas.

The same can be said of BOTH parties. It's not right to call either person ugly, period. I find it highly offensive that people here call others names like "fatty" and making cliche comments like all the "fatties" think about is food, because that is VERY untrue. Just the same, it's not right for someone to call a skinny girl anorexic because she's skinny. Neither argument is right.

:/ are you serious? I didn't know I wasn't allowed to express my opinion. I'll say whatever I want to say regardless of your feelings about it, just like you can say whatever you want about the "fatties" and not feel guilty for it.

Your reaction to the video was immature, and trying to make xsjeans feel bad about what she said isn't going to help. I think you're also forgetting that some of the members of this forum are overweight, but would you call them "fatties?"

The fact of the matter is that the whole point of the video was to try to encourage people to have a "healthy self-image"... it wasn't trying to attack skinny people, but the industry (magazines) that promote and pump the image... they weren't knocking the individuals...but the advertising of the bodies... I get that...

It is those same pictures that drove and continue my obsession to some extent...(remember thinspiration now...)

As for knocking 'fatties,' how fair is that? I understand being angry... but what does that solve...
I get that in order to want to strive for perfection sometimes you may think of yourself as better than or more 'perfected...' and force yourself to think of those who eat as 'sick' or 'selfish' or 'gross'...I know I do... not to be mean but as a personal punishment to keep striving for a lesser weight...to scare myself to keep losing... but to outwardly say it about people is disgusting...I have to agree...

Those people aren't 'fatties...' They were normal people saying that media should be more well-rounded so that impressionable minds don't get the idea that eating disorders are the 'cool thing' to do... that if you aren't skinny (by skinny they mean a BMI of 17 or under) naturally...then it's not worth starving yourself to attain because beauty is in all forms...

The only thing that bothered me is the misperception that all models have eating disorders. Most fashion models just have a specific body type - tall, thin, long legs, broad shoulders, small bust. They also aren't flawless even though they may have great bodies - a lot of models look pretty plain in real life. It takes a lot of making up and some photoshop magic to get that magazine image. My future sister-in-law is a fashion model, and one of the most healthy down-to-earth people I've ever met, and she always gets accused of having an eating disorder while I've struggled with it since middle school and rarely am I suspected because weight has always been normal - heavy (which surprisingly many people consider my fat ass "normal" nowadays). The reason they pick girls with that body type is because the clothes hang better on them - they are human clothes hangers. There's no more and no less to it than that.

If they want to complain about the media and body image they should start talking about this need for girls to have massive boobs and old leather tans.
