I've been eating a very low cal diet for about a week and a half now (<600 per day) and in the past 2 days, I fasted for 24 hours before eating. Today I decided to get a pizza for the first time since starting my x-diet because I have 4 days off of work and wanted to celebrate a bit. I've only had 3 slices so far and my stomach is killing me.

I suppose it's the grease in the pizza but it's never hurt me before. I had to take several pepto tablets and am drinking a lot of water which is helping. I've always heard that fasting gives your tract a chance to regenerate and replenish its mucoul membranes so that when you do eat, it feels more comfortable than usual and there's less chance of heartburn or indigestion. Well apparently that's not true.

My system feels much more delicate than before. Also, it seems coffee and tea are more likely to upset my stomach now and they didn't before. At least it will keep me from eating too much pizza, but I feel as if I've been deceived by all the purveyors of new age, detox, earthy, remedies who swear that fasting helps food digest. It doesn't.

Yeah, I know how you feel. :/ The whole new-agey "fasting for detoxification" thing is a big part of how my ED got started.... Those people _are_ liars. :p
