I'm curious how long all of you have been able to fast. I'm thinking about doing 30days and wondering if anybody else has done this before and can offer me some advice and support. I think I'm in a good place to do it. Any tips?

the longest iv been on a juice fast was three weeks which had amazing results but its not something i could do again. i usually try stick to one week pure fast or two weeks juice fasts. juice fasts for two weeks are relatively easy, they still have amazing results (up to 2 stone!) and they don't take a lot out of u. pure fasts are fricking hard to stick to and u get no results for the first few days, u need a lot of will power but if u persist at it the weight will drop off.

when you say juice fast--do you mean fruit juices or something else?

mmmmmmm by juice fast i mean a mix of pure oj and home made smoothies made from a bannana and some strawberries or blueberries, i sometimes pineapple aswell. To really get the full effect i use frozen fruit so your body then has to use cals to warm up.

how much did u lose on a three week juice fast?

iv had different results from my fasts, sometimes iv lost one and a half stone really quickly then plateaued, other times iv consistently lost 1-2lb each night on the fast. there really is no solid answer. it depends on how well my metabolism was working at the time. i mean if u go from say 800 cals a day to a straight juice fast then u will lose weight quickly but iv done them from just 100/200 cals a day and my body was shutting down so i didn't lose that much weight. each time i have done a juice fast for a week i have lost around a stone no matter what condition i was in at the time.

oh man you're strong! Black coffee and celery for three months! Did nobody notice while you were doing it? I'm totally going to try that when I break my fast at the end of next week.

i have to be honest i'm pretty low with the will power when it comes to fasting but I can go about a week on juice and like Sarah_Charlotte I lose quite a bit. On water though I don't lose much at all and for about the first 3 days I don't lose anything at all unless i exercise like crazy but then when I exercise I can't fast as easily because i get weak if that makes sense!? lol

the first three/four days on a pure fast are soooo hard, u feel exhausted, faint, get dizzy, cant do your job properly and worst of all u don't lose any weight which makes it near impossible to stick to it. iv attempted so many pure fasts but have never lasted more than 8 days, usually quit after 3!

omg so true sarah-charlotte I think u just have 2 not b too down on urself cause i just weighed myself and i weigh the same! Well the same as I did at my lowest (this time!) so I guess I've lost but I expected to have lost more after approx. 3 weeks of fasting!:D:(

Fuck, I've been fasting for 5 days now and all i've lost is 5lbs. I'm so pissed at myself. My punishment is going on for another 12 days. There, that should do it!

not sure looking at it as a punishment is the best way to go, try a challenge. u shouldn't punish yourself for something that is out of your control, sometimes these things just happen - bodies freak out thinking they are starving and conserve as much fat as poss to stay alive. its really not your fault that u haven't lost weight, u have prob lost inches though :) that's what happens to me. measure your hips, thighs ect and then tell me u have made no progress!

um i think that the longest true fast that i did was 16 days... its was like three to four days of hell then i started to feel good. i want to try to do it again but when i was fasting like crazy i was on my way back to the hospital so i wanted to lose as much as possible and i worked out all the time during that as well.
you have to be careful with true fast and make sure you are getting enough water and another helpful thing that i did was i always took pre-natal vitamins cuz when you start to get really low in weight you are also low in all the minerals and vitamins that keep you alive... even though at that time in my life i didnt care about living anymore, but i did care about how my skin was, my hair, my nails and so on. so those worked really well and having close to the proper amount of vitamins in your system actually gives you energy that you can get from food.
good luck but be careful while doing this... Water water water so important

I think the longest fast was 2 weeks [mayb once 3 wth 1 day break] - was the Master Cleanser fast [lemon juice etc].
Many times [like this week] its the soup fast.
I did also the juice fast - was cool- cant remember if i lost anything.
Next week i want to do it, if im going from 200 cals- will it work or i need a day of 800 before?
now im on the soup fast since Sun, do u think i lost more than 200 gr? [my body refuse to lose]
Im too afraid to face the scale - it was hell fr me 2 weeks ago-.
can u help me wth the juice fast fr next week- i need ideas of how to make other juices than apple n orange.
do u have MSN/ICQ ? To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. /209046747

Can u give me the recieps of the smoothies? n the daily amount u use?
Im on soup now, bt want to change to juice .
Should I use a blander?
Thanks

juice never works for me. There's just too much sugar and my body refuses to lose weight.
When I juice fast I do veggie juice: this one has always worked:\
Lettuce
Kale
Beet
celery
cucumber
ginger
lime or lemon
1/2 apple \
put it all through a juicer. The beet cleans you out naturally without needing laxies and it keeps up your energy by all the healthy phyto nutrients. You just have to be used to the taste is all.

hi, i don't really follow a recipe - it more of a whatever's-in-the-house-at-the-time smoothie! obviously i count the cals so i will search through my supplies, take out my little calculator and figure out what i can put in the smoothie to make up the amount allowed for the day. i allow 600 for the first day, then 500, 400, 300, 200 - then i take a day off to eat solid veggies and start again the next day with 600.
on big cal days i go for the pineapple and bananas, on the low cal days its all strawberries and grapes ect. u can always add a low cal/no fat yogurt on the big days to fill it out. oh and try to split your smoothie into 4 portions that u can drink throughout the day rather than downing it all at once.

Just like Sarah - Charlotte, I have done a juice fast for 3 weeks (My longest fast).
I stick to the pineapple and cucumber jucie (1/2 a pineapple and 2inch cucumber)
On a fast I can lose 1 stone (14lbs) easily, on my 3 week fast I only managed to lose 1 1/2 stone (21lbs)
I have not fasted in a long time now and I am starting my fast today, I'm doing this fast for 2 weeks.
