Not everyone gains the same side effects though. It's on the side of the box as a warning but that doesn't mean it automatically will happen for you. E.g. I went on the pill and I didn't gain weight, but then I had to change pills so I did put on weight. It really just depends how your body manages it, but schizophrenia is pretty serious so it would be silly not to take the pills. But you are deffinately right about talking to your doc.

Nice to meet you! I'm a fellow schizophrenic with Borderline.
I have been on antipsychotics for awhile now - and I wish you luck. Personally, I gained a whopping 30 lbs with Risperidone. *sobs*
I'm on Zeldox (Geodon) now which is supposedly weight neutral. Gotta warn you though, it has to be taken with food to be absorbed properly. Still, I think its worth it. :)
I hated risperidone!! made me so jumpy and agitated!!
