i'm a DIII cross country runner who has had an ED for 8 years. (my diagnosis has changed back on forth over the years from anorexia, to bulimia, to EDNOS depending on my weight and symptoms) i also race longer distances like half marathons in the off season.
if there are any competitive runners out there, how do you manage your ED and your running? my times sometimes fluctuate a lot depending on how my ED is doing, which makes sense, but then there are some girls on my team (and even girls who run several minutes faster than i do in DI) who maintain their EDs and low weights and still manage to be amazing runners.
anyone have any experience with this?

I had the same problem until I ate my daily cal intake (ranges but never over 800) an hour before I race. It gives me the necessary energy but I get to burn it off. :D

that's a good idea. i've tried that before, but with only like 500cals. it helped, but sometimes the cumulative effects from not eating well during the week and purging and whatnot are just too much for my body to handle. i guess ill just have to learn to start sucking it up more, lol. :/

You should really try to stop purging altogether since you already run a lot just because it takes so much energy out of you to purge! Good luck with all your upcoming races! I'm sure you'll beat out everyone else with your hard work. :)

:oHave some fruit before your run or maybe a tbsp of peanut butter & a banana (200calsish). <3
I run, but I am not on a team or anything.
It's my fav. cardio. =)

You must be awesomely fit to be doing marathons. I wanted to ask you if you have tried interval running as you seem a really good runner?

hi vision thing - yes, i do interval workouts all the time. a lot of the time intervals are better than just going out and running for XXX amount of time every day. doing intervals is comparable to the 2468 diet (i think you guys call it abc on here...) because the variation keeps the muscles agile and ready for anything. it tricks them, so to speak. if you run the same pace all the time day in and day out, your body plateaus and you are no longer benefiting from your workout and your times are not very liekly to improve.
the beauty of some intervals is that they do not have to be very long for you to get a benefit from them. (one of my fav. ones that i do at least once per week is only 22 minutes long. it varies from running at a comfortably hard pace to an all out sprint.) you get out of the workout what you put into it, basically.

Thank you that's really really helpful! And the ABC and 2468 are different diets
