I'm not sure if worrying about having a cough is a bit stupid; as I'm a purging bulimic and a smoker, but my throat is raw right now. I'm also coughing up green phlegmy stuff which is apparently a symptom of a chest infection. I don't have a temperature or anything though, and I'm just wondering if this is something I should be worried about or if it's just a product of my unhealthy habits. Any advice, please? :)

Sounds like you have a cold/infection but there isn't really anything to worry about at this point. However if things change/ get worse I would call a doctor and get in to make sure it isn't anything else but you just need to rest.... and rest your throat. You can even get some OTC cough syrup to help with it. But over reacting at this point that it could be a list of different things isn't helpful. Wait a day or two and see if things change. But it is this time of the year when people start to get sick.

I have a constant cough/chronic sore throat. Strepsils or cough syrup may help reduce symptoms, also make sure you stay hydrated, but you may want to go to the doctor's just to check it out just in case there's something wrong.

thanks for your replies, guys. i'm probably just being a paranoid hypochondriac and there are a lot of cold/infection type things going around at the moment. so hopefully itll sort itself out.
