Does anyone here do pilates?? I was up late the other night studying and the infomercial came on, i got completely sucked in... people were going on about how fast they 'shrunk'.

Anyway just wondering if any of you guys do it? Have tried it?

And what are your thoughts??

Nothing wrong with pilates, but don't do it if you're planning on spending alot of money on it. It's mostly a long lived fad. It was invented right after World War 2 by a doctor to help bedridden wounded soldiers learn to walk again. It was meant to help rehabilitate extremely weak muscles in order to regain the ability to walk and do normal daily activities. Since then, though, some marketing geniouses figured out how to sell pilates to perfectly healthy people with promises of fat reduction and major strengthening.

It can do that but so can any excersize. The cheapest way to accomplish that is just walking and weightlifting, and avoid the expensive pilates lessons and equipment, unless you really do have an issue with weakness.

This is not true! Pilates is very cheap to do! You do not need anything but a mat.

Thanks for the input! Yeah i ordered the winsor dvds for like $50 - new zealand currency. not too bad. and im just gonna cancel my membership when they arrive so i dont get charged for more dvds.

summer is coming where i am, so am gonna do it everyday and will hopefully tone up my body quicker for bikini time. :)

I take a morning yoga class twice a week which is great for centering me and keeping me focused on my goals. I've done pilates a couple of times though using videos and lemme tell ya, that stuff will make you SORE the next day.

So I'm pretty sure it works...
