If anyone could give me info or advice on this I would be eternally grateful.

I just got the results from a blood test. It showed I am anaemic but the doc said my kidneys arent functioning as they should. Im rather worried about this and am wondering if it is anything to do with my eating disorders because I feel it is all my own fault!
I am on a waiting list to be seen by a psych and assessed by eating disorders team. My doc does not understand enough to give me answers.

Also in the test, one kind of blood cell is too high. Not sure what that means but now I have to have another blood test.

I havent been feeling too well recently and had all sorts of digestive trouble similar to IBS and severe stomach pains. The doc has given me Omeprazole. Anyone heard of it?

I am very scared all this is related and all to do with my eating habits (I have a very limited diet) I want to change but I cant!! Help!

I hope you get into to see the ED specialist soon! They will hopefully be able to sort it all out for you.

That said, I have experienced bad bloodwork results as a result of my ED, particularly when I was very thin/ill. It is possible to improve your health, but it takes a commitment to eating properly, not purging, etc. The key is just to keep trying to eat nutritiously, enough calories, stay hydrated, and so on. I know that is easier said that done!

Hang in there, and I hope that your next blood test is better!

In all honesty, with experience, you blood test results can come back all sorts of funky due to your eating habits/disorder. It's a scary thing sometimes to be upfront with your doctor for fear of being hospitalized, but you need to be an honest as is at all possible with your doctor when it comes to any type of disordered eating. Failure to do so can result in worse effects on your body, which will be unexplainable by your doctor as they don't have a clue if you're not honest, and can (drumroll) result in many ER visits and possibly your own death. Doctors are trained to see warning signs, but many look just at the paperwork in front of them, and they trust you to be honest with them.

Your doctor is right to refer you to a specialist, and the best I can say from experience is to be honest with them. It doesn't mean that you're betraying your own feelings towards yourself. It doesn't mean that you're going to recover right away either. Your health will continue to be impacted as long as you hide ANYTHING from the specialists trying to treat you.

The only comment I have toward you kidneys not functioning properly and a cell count (I'm assuming white, and am probably correct in my assumption) higher than average is that yes, it is typical of an eating disordered individual. None of us are doctors here, may be some nurses, or ones who have been to nursing school (raises hand), just good luck with everything you are going through at the present time. Be honest with yourself, and be honest with those who are treating you. That is how you will build your health back up.
