Any thoughts? I've always been against taking meds that arent really necessary, but I'm really being pressed to consider it to stop bingeing urges. Anything youve heard about it or know from personal experience? Thanks

Any type of antidepressant can be a bit shady. Sometimes there can be new symptoms or they can get even worse. I've never taken an antidepressant because I personally don't like the mess around with that stuff. The thought of taking them makes me really anxious and nervous.

Antidepressants would fix that.
I'm sorry, that was mean of me.

Or simply not take them so I don't have to feel nervous about taking them.

I know, I'd never take them either. They scare the bejeebers out of me.

They take the edge off but personally they make me feel really numb and I think I would rather feel sad and feel nothing and just want to stare at the wall all day. BUt im sticking to them because I dont have much of a choice but if nothing gets better i'll probably just tell my mom im taking them even though im not. BUt they arent like 'magic fix me happy pills' Thats what my mom sees them as and alot of other people- there nt like that.

I'v e tried numerous antidepressants (for my anxiety, obsessive thoughts, ed etc.) and Prozac was by far the best! It helped me tremendously and did not numb out my feelings at all..if anything i was happier and not as stressed. I would be on it right now if I could but unfortunately it gives me night sweats...I took it for many years thought with no side effects whatsoever. The decade of my 20's was really good one due largely to Prozac. I highly recommend you give it a try...

Prozac is a good one. I can't really tell if it suppresses the binge urges, 'cause that didn't work for me at all. But it helps with depression in a higher dose.

I like prozac actually, been taking it for about 3 years now and it helps me calm my anxiety and depression. I remember once I switched to Zoloft and I felt terrible, worst decision I ever made. My doctor said people react to medications in different ways, i.e some people find prozac beneficial while others don't. Its kind of like a hit or miss situation. but in my opinion I'm happy with 30 mg prozac :)
