Has anyone else developed acid reflux/GERD from long-term overeating/bingeing? I went to the dentist who informed me that I needed 7 (!) new fillings and that I probably have a problem with stomach acid coming up into my esophagus/mouth. After talking with a doctor, that turned out to be true.
Does anyone else have this problem? I guess it can result in esophageal cancer over time, not to mention mad heartburn and dental bills now. If you have it, have you changed your eating habits or sleeping posture at all? (I basically haven't... willpower, where are you?)

Yes- I often get acid coming up my throat, or just vomiting slightly purely by accident-rather embarrassing whilst in public !
I'm very worried about my teeth-I have noticed they are becoming transparent towards the edges and very noticeably so. (Acid wearing away the enamel..)
I've never had a filling in my life and I'm putting off going to the dentist because I don't want to know how bad of a state by teeth may now be in..Although i really should because I'm pretty sure they need some work at this point and it may shock me into stopping the binges :/

I get this too, spicy foods, tomato, salt... pretty much sets it off, but sometimes I'll lie down and it'll come up my throat. I have a hiatus hernia, I'm pretty sure its inherited and my purging has made it worse, but my stomach valve sometimes finds it difficult to close.
I've sneezed and thrown up acid before, from nowhere... and woken in the night to find myself with a mouthful of acid... or choking on it :(

Since i never spit up as a baby. I've had acid reflux for pretty much my whole life, and amazingly the only damage its done is on my teeth where they are no kind of see through. Chocolate, tomatoes, anything to spicy or to greasy would cause my acid reflux/heartburn. But since i have been staying away from those kind of foods it doesn't come up as often. but just last night i ate a strawberry and drank some of my no-calorie arizona tea and went back to work, i bent down to put a box away and up it came... yucky :( Sorry went of on a rant. I would just start eating healthier foods and maybe just have a bite or two of something greasy or acidic. Try taking Maalox or Tums to help. When you sleep, prop a pillow behind and kinda sleep like your sitting up, but not all the way and see if that helps. try not to eat so close to bed time
