I have a "friend" (I hate her but still hang out with her, oddly enough) who is soooo talented, she has an amazing boyfriend, she plays soccer so well, she's good at math, she does a billion gazillion other things on top of that, and has the guts to say "I suck." "I'm fat." "I'm a failure." "I'm no good at anything." "Nobody likes me." and bursts into tears shamelessly.

Have you looked in the mirror lately?
Have you thought of how what you say makes other people feel?
What are we supposed to say to that???
What is your problem???

I don't know what to do about her. She is so whiney and annoying. I can't ditch her because then she'd be an even bigger mess. And she is in all of my classes plus my taekwondo classes.

Once, we were all about to have a math exam, none of us felt prepared, all of my friends were totally freaking out and then she walks in, bawling, saying how much she sucks at math and will fail and crap. Hello, how does that make us feel, especially when she is smarter than we are??? What are we supposed to say or do? we are trying to study here!!

I'm getting pretty desperate here.

Yeah, be all know people like this. She's likely doing it for attention, because when you complain, people are taught to pay attention to you. She probably just guilt-trips her boyfriend into staying with her. Don't give her the attention she wants and concentrate on yourself. You can be twice as smart if you do it under your own stride and not get weighed down with someone like her.
