View Full Version : Binging and Diabetis?

Whenever I restrict I'm on a low carb diet (which I try to maintain) but unfortunately I sometimes I slip up. And when I slip, I really go off the end binging (and purging but mostly not) on carbs. Lots and lots of carbs. (sudden disclaimer: this may be triggering) Like, a whole box of donuts, a pint of ice cream, noodles, bread, chocolate, cookies, gummy candy, and basically just tons of sweets. Plus more.
Anyway, the last time I did this I felt like absolute crap. Like I could sleep all day and had a sweet taste in my mouth that wouldn't go away. I've heard that you can develop diabetes from just one bad sugar binge so I'm sooo scared. :( Anyone know anything about this or have experienced something similar? xx

I don't know a whole lot about this but I've worried about it too... when I buy binge food its just about always sweets. I don't think you can get it from one bad binge, it takes time... I've seen those weight loss shows where people are at risk but they're eating terribly every single day. I'm going to do some research on this tomorrow, not in the state of mind right now, but I just wanted to hopefully calm you down a little for now. Hope you're doing okay :)

Thanks for replying, you did calm me down. :) Yeah, I think that once your insulin levels spike over a certain level the damage is irreversible, and bam! you're diabetic. Hopefully that hasn't happened though. I'm going to look up the subject more myself. :)

yeah, it sounds like a scare story to me about getting diabetes in one day. diabetes is quite a complex condition.
