In my family, gatherings are generally synonymous with rich foods and excessive calories. I had a major binge today, and stepped on the scale (weighing more that I ever have)... I don't know how to control myself any more...

To make myself get back to a stable weight, I was planning on fasting tomorrow (I know, I know, bad-- but I ate more than 3000 calories today). How can I avoid the food during the gathering?

thanks,
Alice

Fasting will most likely set you up for another (probably bigger) binge. It might help to fill up on healthy, lower calorie foods like fruits and vegetables before you go. If you're starving when you get there, the smell and sight of all that food will just be overwhelmingly tempting! Having a full stomach might help keep you from going overboard. Good luck and try to focus on just enjoying yourself!
