Suicide Hotlines?

So, I've been getting a bit too close to the edge lately, and I thought one might help. However, when I try, I always get very awkward and nervous and end up hanging up. So I would like to know if any of you could help me with what to say. Ideas, suggestions, whatever. Please?

Ack, I've wanted to try one for ages but I'm always too paranoid about it. I made a thread similar to this and got a lot of mixed replies. Some people had amazing experiences and some people didn't. I find it ironic that you have to overcome your insecurities that are probably the issue in the first place.

I'd say try it. The people on the lines are supposed to be trained professionals that are there to help you. Don't be embarrassed to ask for help. It's better than the alternative.
