Do any of you ever rock back and forth when you're depressed. I just recently noticed I do this every time Im feeling depressed. I just rock and rock and rock for a while. Its just kind of weird and I was wondering if anyone else does this?
No way out.

I stare into space. Cry. Stare back into space.
Or, sleep.

I've noticed this. I tend to rock back and forth, my foot starts tapping like it has a mind of it's own, stare at my knees or a wall or curl up in the foetal position and cry. This tends to happen if I'm really down or anxious, which is nearly every day.
Also, my mam said I used to rock loads as a child and it was really noticable so I'm wondering if it's a comfort thing or not.
You are not weird to engage in these behaviours, everyone will have something "weird" they do in times of great mental distress. x

I sleep. It happens when I don't have anything to distract myself with, like long hours at work. When I had to take a few weeks off I started thinking about things that brought me down..it was a hard cycle that usually left me in a sleep coma for 20 or more hours, only getting up for water, a shower, or the restroom.

I rock back and forth when I get... weird. It's not depressed, but, like, before or after an episode of cutting or something. It's a way for me to contain my emotions, I guess. I never thought about it... huh.

It's actually really common. I tend to stare into space and get lost.
I'd say it's fairly common. Apparently it's meant to be like being back in the womb or being rocked as a child. Sense of comfort.

i do.
And I cry and seem to stare blankly.
One person saw me, while I was rocking on my bed, and
Ashe said I was the saddest person shed ever seen
And that it breaks her heart to see me like that…

I rock back and forth as well. It helps me deal with being down if a mood swing hits me unexpectedly. Sometimes, I can even manage to still function and hold a conversation if I'm focusing on rocking instead of on how I feel. I don't know why this is.

i just stare into space and lose all concentration on what's happening around me, i don't really rock though, sometimes i kind of like, jiggle my leg up and down (as weird as it sounds), its relaxing :)

whenever i sit crosslegged i rock. sometimes i do if i'm sitting normally but i ALWAYS rock when i'm crosslegged. my mom says i've always done it, so like others said it must be a comfort thing.
speaking of it, i'm rocking right now lolllll

Now I feel weird... I curl up fetal and hide under the blanket. >.> (Or if I'm getting really edgey and worried I might 'do something stupid' I get paper out and draw or write. Just gotta keep the hands moving, distracted, until it passes. I dug my nails into my hand so bad once it left "scars" that took forever to disappear... Gotta keep the hands moving. Always moving.)
