Prednisone - Anyone have any experience taking it?

I have recently been prescribed Prednisone for a short coarse to help get my migraines under control but I seem to be having several undesirable side effects from it. Anyone else have experience with it? I have been taking the pred for approx 1 week now.

I have gained approx 1 lb a day, dry mouth, increased thirst, rash, etc.

Those reactions sound about right. If you have been taking it for over a week do not stop taking it w/o talking to your Dr. It is not a med that you can just stop. You have to taper down. I have a migraine disorder but have never tried prednisone. I use migranol.

Yep, I had the same symptoms. I literally gained 10 lb in one week, plus rash, dry mouth, and a few other symptoms. I was on another med at the same time and had reactions to both of them.

This might be a late reply, but I'm new to the forum, so am looking around. I have the same problem on Prednisone. The food cravings were terrible. I would wake up in the middle of the night ready to eat the entire kitchen I was so hungry.

I did gain weight, but it dropped off after I stopped taking my round of the med. I know it's hard and incredibly stressful, but I just had to focus on not giving into those cravings.

I'd definitely tell your doctor about any side-effects you're having, just to be sure.
