So I live in Florida so it's already getting warmer and I'd really love to wear short sleeves but I dont want to look like a freak with all of my scars on my arm. I don't really care who knows anymore but I don't want to be looked at like I'm just trying to get attention but I just feel like crap trying to hide my arms all the time.

Yesterday I tried sleeves that just go on your forearm but I still felt like a freak and a bunch of people asked what they were.

Is there any other way to hide my arms without wearing long sleeves?

I know how you feel i'm from Florida too.If you don't mind me asking what part of Florida are you from or live in? Also arm warmers could be a consideration and they are actually in style these days with the teens. If your not a teen though you can still ware them.

I'm 13 and I live in Jacksonville. I thought about arm warmers and that's kinda what I was wearing the other day. The problem is that I have somewhat of a "preppy" style because of my mom so I have to branch out slowly.

Where do you live?

there are some seriously heavy-duty concealers you could try, if your scars aren't raised and bumpy. i've heard dermablend works really well and plan to get some to try to cover up the burn marks i stupidly did on my forearm.
other than that, i know some people just wear a plethora of bracelets to cover the majority of the scars on their arms. i've been trying to work up the courage to wear shorts and shorter dresses again and just not give a fuck what people think, but it's hard. i worry i'll run into people who have the gall to ask what the scars are from, like you said you encountered. people like that really blow my mind...
but anyway, i hope you find something that works. in the meantime, don't let nosey people ruin wearing short sleeves for you.

Dermablend is great if you can find it in your colour. For it to work best, you'll need the waterproofing powder as well, and then either the Dermablend makeup remover or a really, really heavy duty makeup remover. Once the makeup and waterproofing powder are on, it won't budge, you can go swimming, even sit around in a spa, and it won't move. It doesn't really work well over scars that are still scabbed, and people will still be able to see bumpy ones.

You could try pushing up the sleeves on long-sleeved shirts, or rolling up the cuffs a bit, so that most of your arms are covered but it doesn't look completely wrong?

I no longer really care about anyone seeing my scars, except for my dad's parents and anyone who will blab to them (my granddaddy on that side is so very precious to me, and is in bad health at the moment, and I would *hate* for that to be something that pushes him over the edge). Sometimes it's really crazy hard. I have had people ask me where my scars are from, and most the time I say it's from when I studied vet nursing and had to take care of heaps of different kinds of animals for six months as part of the course. The absolute worst for me was when a friend who did know where my scars come from asked me in front of a few other friends.

You could try a light cardi over other clothes. And if people ask you why you wear long sleeves, you can say it's because your skin is sensitive to the sun and you have to keep it covered most of the time.

I got some new makeup today that worked pretty well on some of my old scars and it helped with the redness of my newer cuts. I think I'll try to wear some short sleeves in the next few days.

iWrite, I wish I had a program like House of Hope in Jacksonville. I'd much rather go somewhere like that than a mental institution.
