Sometimes, I doodle on my skin with a pen to stop myself from cutting and it sorta helps. And I have doodles that change with my mood, like I have a heart on my hand that is broken, empty, full, ect.
I was just wondering if anyone else did this.

I used to. I got into the habit of keeping a pen behind my ear and would sometimes doodle on my hip or thigh while I peed (sorry if tmi). Do you ever wonder if you were in a car accident or otherwise suddenly died, what the coroner would think upon finding it?

I have wondered that. I worry they'll find my scars too. But my doodles would be much more interesting.

I still do this, I always use the same pen. I draw a lot, so I always have pens and markers on me.
anyways but yeah it does help for a little while, I would hate to cut my doodles. But sometimes
I just doodle for the hell of it, it calms me down.

I doodle sometimes to detract from my scars, it works :) <3
I'm not much of a doodler - but sometimes I cover myself in words if I feel like cutting but am in control enough to not want to.

I hadn't ever thought of that, but it's an interesting idea. I wonder what the coroner would think seeing all these lines and words and symbols. I mean if you show someone yourself or someone sees, there's body language and excuses and explanations that go along with the marks. But as a body… it's just the lines. In life they carry such stories - about how we feel, what we have gone though, how we think… I wonder what sort of stories the coroner might create in his/her mind about the lines which in death must look so small. Without the shame or secrets or explanations they are, after all, just lines of scar tissue, right?

Interesing P.O.V. Cara. And all too true. Sometimes I wonder if I carve something into my arm and I die, if people will wonder about my life reading it?
As for the OP, I do this too and it helps me SO much. I usually doodle with my fingers or a pencil though so it's not actually on my skin because my mom spazzes at me when she sees me drawing on my arms and hands, which is were I like to doodle. But then I usually end up full-out drawing something cause of it lol but it does help a lot. It's helped me in my recovery of SI greatly.

Also, when it's hot outside I draw on my scars so that people can't see them. That's the only way I wear short sleeves now-a-days.
I can't imagine what anyone would think if they saw my body. I suppose they would think I was a bit tormented bucause of all my scars but all the doodles would say that I enjoy color and art. I dunno. I'd like to find out though.
What's your favorite thing to doodle?
My mom hates it when I draw on myself too. I wish she knew how much it helps to keep me from cutting.

I draw on my self sometimes. It's not at all on par with the release of cutting, but it does relieve some anxiety. I usually do it on my stomach, and i either do words like 'fat' or 'do not eat' or i just scribble all over. And i sometimes use sharpie, so it takes awhile to fade. Not fun scrubbing that off in the shower.
