Okay so I am new to this. And I dont over eat, but what I do eat isnt too healthy and I have a lot to study since I am a grad student and I have no time and energy to workout. I have tried countless diets, I never make it through. Anyways, does this purging stuff actually work? I really want to loose the 25 pounds I have gained in the past 2 years. I have never had an eating disorder, its just stress that leads me to crave certain foods and get the munchies. Anyway, so my fiances mom is comming and she is very fit herself and I dont want her to think what a balloon I have become. Ontop, she is comming with his friends sister (who has a crush on him). This is driving me nuts. I started throwing up after eating about 2 weeks ago. I have a month to go but as of right now....Im still a lard and confused! Any advice?

purging might work for awhile depending on what you eat and how much you throw up but it might not. my advice is DO NOt start!! if you get into the habbit then you could become bulimic, and you really dont want to do that. being bulimic is the worste thing i have ever done to myself and i regret it every day. if you want to lose weight try to do it the healthy way, but if you cant not eating would be better then making yourself throw up, but again losing weight the healthy way is by far the best thing to do.

hello, i completely understand where your coming from. i'm new here myself, but not new to purging.. i started because i felt overweight compared to all the girls that i was always around.. then after i got out of high school and got into college (im a grad student as well) the stress piled on and so did the pounds.. so i did it more and more, and whenever i see someone from school i feel so good because they can't believe how much weight i've lost and everyone's always telling me how much better i look, but they don't know what i did to get here.. anyway, i always ate junk, drive thru mostly because let's face it, that's easiest when you're cramming.. but eating that was so gross, it made me sick.. so that's where you start i guess.. it takes just a little while to see the affects, and if you dont think you can control it in the long run then dont.. cause now it's like my scapegoat.. anything stressful happens and purging again.. but if you can control it its a great way for fast results.. oh yea, drink lots of water.. it helps if you're getting sick even if your not eating at all, or not eating alot.. hope i helped out a bit. peace & love.

Seriously hun, bulimia is the last thing you want to get involved in. Really. I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy. Its not just about purging, thats easy. Its compulsive and it creates a barrier between you and leading a normal life. It is so hard to go out and eat, or go out around eating, or eat with anyone in or near your presence. Its not like movies where its so easy... its really time and energy consuming.
Up until last year may I was throwing up at least seven times a day. And i reallly started out only throwing up sometimes. This disease will get you and youll regret every moment of wanting to be in that position.
Sorry im not trying to preach, but just to let you know it really is not worth it.
I literally have teeth that are so bad now from it, its disgusting.

that would be water weight. when u purge u are in a sence tramatizing your body, and your body does not look good when tramatized. it automatically retains loads of water because as u no throwing up make u super dehydrated, now even if u replenish ure fluid afterwards your body still holds the water because it thinks it will be lost again. so even when u lose the weight u wont actually feel or look like u have because ure face swells and u retain sooooo much water, i went from ana to mia and gained so much weight i looked disgusting, but when u control your intake of food in the first place and drink loads of water, you look and feel so super lean and toned and loose weight so much more quickly, basically for me i got so much skinner controlling what i ate in the first place, it feels sooo good, throwing up dosent its fucking terrible. take it from someone who has been to hell and back through this, control what u eat so u dont have to bother with the stress afterwards!!!

purging has worked well for me.. in the weight loss aspect. since march i have lost twenty pounds- but that doesn't mean i reccomend it. it has honestly taken over my life. i haven't gone a day without purging in months. and it's a never-ending process, i can't stop. because i know if i stop then all the weight will come right back.

I'm here with most people on the topic...
I'd strongly urge you not to get into a routine of purging!
If I could I would do anything to help whoever I can not to EVER get to where I've been :(
I started due to a loss of control in terms of developing binge eating disorder that came about as a backflip of crash dieting... Now, my body tries to purge on it's own even after a normal sized meal...
Because of my stupid purging habits I've done damage to my heart, my metabolism is poor, my bowel movements are minimal, I sometimes lose my voice, and I'm constantly feeling bloated.... Trust me, you don't want to begin to bloat yourself when you're trying to lose weight. It's the worst feeling...
The best thing I'd suggest would be to just find some exercise that you enjoy doing or can do at home on your own! [My favourite = DDR! XD seriously!] Or even, find a friend, a cousin or somebody that you can go to the gym with.
I've also changed my diet. I'm a semi vegetarian [still eat some types of seafood]. That means a lot less fat in my diet. Eating more vegetables and fruits has really helped my bowel too.
One last thing... Water is a key thing to weight loss! Seriously! At first the thought of having a water full stomach may be a turn off, but it makes you feel full and not wanting to eat anymore, without you taking up anymore calories. The more water you drink the more you'll have bowel movements, and this in turn will lead to weight loss. I'm sure you've read somewhere in a magazine or something that one of the most important things a celebrity says when they talk about how they keep such a great body is drinking water...
Please take all of our advice here and get yourself started the healthy way! It's the best way to get it off while keeping it off!

purging can work.. it won't really make you lose weight though, it will just stop you gaining any more.. if you really want to lose, i suggest maybe just trying to restrict what you eat. like have a limited number of calories per day, and over the course of the month limit the calories more and more so eventually you're basically eating nothing.. i dunno.. that's what's always worked for me. purging isnt fun... after a long long time of doing it myself, i have to use my entire hand, which not only feels disgusting, but results in grazes and bruising on that hand.. it's not pretty. and laxatives are poo.. pun intended. i hate them, and once you've been using them long enough your body doesnt let you.. you know... without using them, for a very long time.. nasty cycle.
