Hi people! This might be rather weird for here, but I am male (never heard of many male anorexics before), and I am hetrosexual (Never ever heard of a hetrosexual male anorexic). And I've decided that I've had anough of my chubby fatness, diets dont tend to work, and I'd rather be a skinny man that a big flabby man anyday. About 5ft 10, and was ***edit** untill today, and I've got no disillusions about the effects of anorexia. Though I'm pretty sure if I keep a cool head, I might just be able to bypass any severe emotional trauma that everyone says comes with anorexia.

Anyway, been ***edit**, quite proud of myself, but I was rather dissapointed when I looked at the scales, and found I'd only dropped 2 and a half pounds. I sort of expected things to go faster than this, but am I wrong? I'm going to keep this period of relative starvation going on for as long as I can, but my friends are getting suspicious of me missing the daily lunch of deep fried fat. So, if anyone can offer any advice to me would be great, or have any similar experiences to share, thanks.

Oh wait finally, does anyone know that when during starvation, does the body lose muscle or fat first? Or them both equally? I'd like to know, as I want to keep the puny muscles I have now.

are you TRYING TO BECOME anorexic?
that's really really not a good idea. this is not something you can just do until you lose enough weight! once it has you trapped you will realise you can NEVER EVER lose enough weight. this disease will kill you!!
i don't want one single person to go through an eating disorder that doesn't have to....

if i have misunderstood your post, then i appologise.

No, I'm not trying to become anorexic, just trying to lose weight.

well then... can i suggest weight watchers or something similar?
asking anorexic people for advice on diets is asking for trouble!
there is also a forum further down for dieters... i think that one might serve you better than this one.

sorry if i sound like i'm preaching..

i'm not trying to bully you- i'm trying to save you...

even if you don't want an ed, it can suck you in...

this forum is dangerous for non-ed people

***edit** dumb way to lose weight. Your metabolism will just slow down and when you do eat again, you'll gain even more weight than before. Asking anorexics how to lose weight is a bit odd. Anorexia is a disease in which the person is terrified of food and gaining weight. When you're anorexic, you literally cannot eat much of anything. It's not difficult to not eat if you're anorexic.
Be healthy with weight loss, please. Anorexia is horrible to live with.

You lose muscle very quickly if you're not eating. To lose fat and hold onto your muscle, you have to work out and eat protein. Just cut out unhealthy food (sugary, and high calorie stuff) and stick to lean meats and vegetables and dairy products. And lots of water, walking and working out.

Hiya,
Well I have heard of hetero-male anorexics, in fact my first boyfriend was one, his mother was massively obese and he was phobic about turning out the same, poor guy. He got a lot better when he moved out and went to uni... anyway, I digress.
Fasting alone is not an effective way to lose weight, you should be doing some exercise and eating little rather than nothing. Gradually cutting down your intake seems to show most effective long term weight loss.
If you do not feel you emotionally have an eating disorder, chances are ***edit** eating normally, or even binge, and pile on the weight.
Anorexics tend to have alternative ***edit** you need to find the long term balance of keeping your organs and functions ticking over whilst burning fat. it can take weeks or months to see much of a difference.
I hope that this helps.
