I know the effects. It's only takes away water weight and makes you hold onto water weight, bloated, etc but my question is.

In the long run do they make you gain real weight?
Not the weight from water but actual weight?

They can help you lose weight but you get really dehydrated and you can really screw up your electrolytes causing other major problems including some which can affect the heart (has to do with the electrolyte imbalance). You can also become dependant on them and that sucks too! I've abused laxatives. It isn't fun and there are other ways that are MUCH safer and MUCH easier for weight loss.

Not as effective as restricting, BP, or exercising because even though the food moves through your GI system very quickly, you still digest and utilize much of the nutrition, calories, etc of the food.

I ended up using lax as a way of punishment when I binged more so than to lose weight. I don't use them any more. This was years ago. I have been able to get myself weaned off of them.

I am stuck on laxatives because I've screwed up my digestive system so horribly
