View Full Version : Any Walkers Here? Ridiculous amounts of walking...

Any walkers here? Im now at college and thanks to the lovely old countryside i walk FAST and mostly up hill about 4- 6 hours a day. Its good, i know it burnes calories (about 100 per hour for me) but i get SO HUNGRY and tiard... should i up my calories?? My binges (:/) are getting more and more frequent...and its not just walking aswell i never really sit still anymore, im always moving around...ive tried adding breakfast but that DID NOT WORK :(
Anyone have the same problem as me??
Or any solutions? Oh and i should probs add i TRY for around 500 cals a day but try to mix it up and varie it abit.
Any comments welcome :)

Im not such a fanatic as you. But i dont mind walking either. Sometimes i walk to school wich takes like 45 minutes. and very often i do my work(heaps of newspapers) on foot aswell, wich takes like 3 hours on foot. But its just nice to walk with some music, even in town. U dont have to pay too much attention to traffic, and whats going on around u. Just walk, listen music, and think. I dont go outside to just walk tho, i like to multi task.
U probably dont like hearing this. But with the amount of calories u burn per day, its logical u feel tired. Ur losing weight by extremely cutting calories and lack of energy is just a un-avoidable side affect of that. If ur body wants 2000 while ur taking 500. Adding a 100 kcal breakfast isnt going to give u the energy u want. U want energy? u have to eat a lot more. If u want to lose weight faster, or just dont want to eat. Lack of energy will be the result. Cant have it all unfortunatly.

I love walking! Always try to pester my friends to wlak around London with me, or try to go on looooooooong park walks or something. One time i walked around the same park about 5 times. 14 miles or something -.- Must have looked like a nutjob!
It is great exercise though, and really relaxing/ fun. I do it because it's not stressful on your joints, unlike running, although i think you are burning more than 100 cals an hour walking uphill. I burn 100 cals an hour just walking fast, but i suppose it depends how much you weigh. I am a fatass :D
Obviously if you are eating less than 500 calories a day and burning more than that walking, you should be eating more. Infact you should be eating 1200 more calories more than that otherwise you are goign to be losing weight. And you should be having some protien in your diet somewhere too! If you're stuck on how to add calories into your diet you could think about the types of food you're eating. Slow release carbs and sugars are better than immediate release ones (which will give you energy while you're walking instead of just when you eat it), or you could take a snack bar with you.

I'm an enthusiast, I broke a couple of bones in my body, and gained weight since I couldn't do sh*t. But now that its done I missed excercise and activity so much, I walk everyday, and the best part about walking, since its so low impact its great for coming back from injuries and good for muscles

i wish i was like you :(
i dont like walking outside i feel like im being watched all the time and social anxiety just makes it worse
but i am starting to walk to school for 40-45 minutes now.

I love walking too, as you I walk like 4, or more, hours a day. but thats mostly cuz I always get lost -.- got NO sense of orientation what so ever.. :c
its really relaxing tho.
about your problem, idk.. I walk when I need to get away from food. But try to eat something thats slow to digest right after you´ve walked. then youll feel full for a longer amount of time and then probably youll be less likely to binge :)

100kcal per hour?? Omg, I though it's a lot more, Yea i know it depends on my weight aswell, but chii, I though I'm burning here with walking over 500 calories. Chah.
But yeah; I love walking..especially at night, I like to walk on dark empty roads while listening to music, it's really relaxing:)
