Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place to start this topic.. but I wasn't sure where else to put it.. so feel free to move it or whatever.

I have been a heavy diet coke drinker for years. It started off with 1 can a day to literally 6+ cans. I loved the taste and how it curbed my appetite. But when I read that the ingredients can prevent weight loss, I immediately stopped. I think I believe it because I do have a hard time losing weight.. I was wondering if anyone else has read that too ?

I haven't heard that the ingredients do... Just that it tends to make people think they can splurge on high calorie foods because "hey, I'm drinking diet, so I'm not getting calories from drinking this, why not eat [insert high cal food]."
Also, it does dehydrate, so that can lead to water weight.
Though, I could be wrong about the ingredients part, because I've heard when people stop drinking soda (diet or otherwise), they loose weight... I dunno for sure...
I hate the taste of water, so if that's all I drank I would go a little crazy, so I drink diet soda and the GV brand of the Crystal Light lemonade and as long as I'm not binging/purging I still lose weight.

Yeah I can see how the 0 cals can "trick" people. I don't mind water I just have to have it ice cold. Sometimes if I need a little flavor I add an Iced Tea bag. (which is great because I don't have to boil the water first, just stick the bag in the cold water).
Once I quit diet coke, I tried a can a couple weeks later and I can't stand the taste.. so I don't think I can go back to it even if I wanted to lol.

Yeah, I hate the taste of sweeteners, but I do what I must. I'd much rather drink that than a regular soda for like 180 calories.

The artificial sweeteners in the soda screw with the blood sugar. The body thinks it is getting sugar but isn't so it pumps out a bunch of insulin and then when it realizes it isn't actually getting a bunch of sugar the blood sugar levels drop drastically causing, well, symptoms of hypoglycemia or low blood sugar. In normal people this causes cravings and a need to eat so the average person will snack on unhealthy stuff and end up eating more of what they really shouldn't.

This doesn't stop me, though. I still drink the diet sodas and stop the cravings somehow if they do develop.

Is diet coke pretty much the same as coke zero?

I don't really like the taste of water either but if yew squeeze half a lemon into a bottle of water it makes it taste alot nicer, and I'm not sure if this is true but I've heard it can speed up your matabalism aswell.

I think diet coke and coke zero are pretty much the same thing, just a different artificial sweetener or something.

I don't know about lemon juice increasing metabolism but it does make water and tea taste better and it doesn't really add any calories so I am all for it.
