View Full Version : What do you cut with? (will delete if considered as tips)
I was just wondering what people cut with, and where they cut.
I use scissors and razorblades, and cut my wrists, thighs, ankles and knees. You?

Oh gosh, you guys.......... I cut too, but isn't this sad to read? Do you feel just a deep saddness for each other and perhaps for your own pain, too????
No judgements cause I am a charter member of the club, but it makes me sad we do this to ourselves.
BTW, I am not going to say what I use, its just seems not helpful to share that. Be well, be kind to yourself xxoo Jeanne

i cut on my arms and legs...depends on what i have lying around....if i don't have my usual tool(blade), i have been known to improvise with other things.
sometimes i burn, but only on my ankles since it can leave bad scars, i don't want anyone to accidentally see.
if you don't do this yet, or not often, please try not to make a habit of it. it's very addictive. and it takes a long time to heal and some scars never fade. everytime i see mine, it makes me feel alot of shame.
please try not to SI.

Scissors, razorblades removed from disposable razor, and mostly these days a lovely folding pocketknife. I used to cut all along my left forearm in high school, but it's not feasible for me to hide those anymore, so I mostly do my shins, front of thighs, and top of feet, and occasionally the sides of my rib cage.
And no, JEANNE, I don't find it sad, I find it freeing to be able to say these things to people who don't find it weird.

ive stopped now but i had two seperate periods when i self harmed... the first time i used scissors until the skin was raised on my wrists but it never drew blood... the second time i started using razors and i would cut all over my forearms and it was as if my troubles were pouring out with the blood... they were the only times that i was vaguely happy back then... i was in a dark place but im better now :) i still think about doing it again sometimes but now i have people who i can talk to... im not alone anymore :)

I sell knives, and since my sample kit is brand new and ridiculously sharp I use those...
I usually cut along the lines on my palms. dunno why... people don't seem to notice I guess. and it hurts so much to wash hands or shampoo.
and I used to use dull scissors too, so that I would have only a raised welt/ very rarely a uber small scab and no scars. I used to think I was weak for not making proper cuts too... but now I realize that isn't the case. besides, dull blades hurt just as much because of the amount of pressure required to make a mark.
When I first started cutting, I used scissors, which made more scratches than cuts. They looked like I'd been mauled by a swarm of angry gnats. I thought nothing of it, because it meant they would heal quicker and I could therefore cut more, until my mum told me she wasn't bothered because, and I quote, I "wasn't even doing it right". This just gave me motivation, not to stop, but to keep cutting deeper and deeper, using sharper and sharper stuff, until I felt I was doing it right. But then I realised, I wasn't going to show her, 'cause she's be mad. So who was I trying to please? Myself? My mother? My friends? I wasn't trying to please anyone, but once you've seen how deep you can cut, it's difficult to go back to scratches when you know ehere and how you can get razorblades.

I used to use scissors, my scissors were amazing. Most scissors don't cut very deep but I knew how to use them right and how much pressure and stuff to make a really deep cut. My parents found them and took them away (That was honest probably one of the saddest day of my life) so now I use these sharp sewing things that i found. But I'm gunna take a blade out of a disposable razor, I can't believe I didn't think of that.
I've cut myself with many things, an exacto knife, normal knives, a really sharp mini food processor blade, a can tab thing from the top..

I used to use kitchen knives al the time... Then scissors. I went through a phase of using the tip of sewing scissors, which was pretty nasty cause of the amount of pressure needed as it wasnt using the blade. Nowadays it's generally whatever I can lay my hands on at the time I need to cut, and I've started using pencil sharpener blades, from the stainless steel sharpeners, and also sterilising with alcohol gel.
It probably isnt good to say this, but it does feel free to not be judged (hopefully).. Sorry if this offends.
