I'm anorexic. And for the most part, the people I talk to have been very supportive of my eating disorder and actively try to help me. But then I come across shirts like this:

How do you deal with people who are actively trying to hurt you? I can only ignore so much. It really makes me sad and depresses me.

If I saw someone wearing that as a shirt, I'd spit on them twice. Once for their disrespect to people with eating disorders and again for their disrespect to the hungry and poor.
That's one of the most disgusting images I've ever seen.
You just have to take comfort in the knowledge that you're better than them in a hundred different ways. Let moments like that make you more confident in yourself instead of sad. However insecure I may feel, at least I know I'm a better human being than whoever drew that shirt.
Mostly, the hate comes from ignorance. Whenever I can without exposing myself, I try to educate people about the reality of eating disorders and debunk the myths - let them know that ED is not about vanity, not about being shallow, not a choice, not a lifestyle, not just for dumb rich girls, not just for girls period. Then I can hope that the next time, they'll think twice before saying something cruel and hurtful. The only way I can deal with it without getting depressed is to try my best to change it.

Yes this shirt is digusting. It makes me mad. There disrespecting a big chunk of people in the world! >:(
That is my problem, so many times I feel I "just have to get over it" ...different story...but reaction?! It is pure ignorance, so I kind of pity them...does that help?!! maybe not but they just don't get it...we do, talk to us...
