So, my boyfriend and I have only been together for just under four months, but he lives with me. Long story. Anyway, we had kind of an amazing conversation today, and I just thought I'd share.

Me: *sigh*
Him: What's up babe?
Me: Same shit. I look so disgusting it's hard to focus.
Him: You're beautiful. How many times do I have to say it before you belief it?
Me: A lot *laughs*
Him: Is that why you haven't eaten today?
Me: Yeah.
Him: I'll make you anything you want, you know...
Me: I know. I'm just a little fucked up. *laughs*
Him: How about I make you a little fruit salad. I'll even calorie count it for you. :)
Me: Well, I haven't eaten today...don't want my metabolism to completely die...
Him: *runs off to make my fruit salad*
~~~15 minutes later~~~
Him: I know you don't like yourself very much, but I support you in whatever you do. You know that right?
Me: *silence*
Him: I won't let you starve yourself, but I'll make you fruit smoothies and go to the gym with you, and keep you distracted so you don't binge, ok?
Me: *bursts into tears*
Him: *Cuddle*
I found this completely incredible. I take him for granted too much. He's the only person who seems to get me, and it's incredible.
Has anyone else had an experience like this? Just curious. I always here about people having negative reactions to their eating disorders with others, so I just wanted to hear about anything remotely positive, supportive, etc.
I'm so so glad for you, i wish you both luck :)
I don't really have anything positive to share but i just wanted to say that I was happy for you hehe
dammit I feel so lonely now... my ex was definitely the kind of guy who would do that... or at the very least let me cry on his shoulder for ages. He skipped work once just to stay on the phone with me when I was having a really bummer night, and he didn't make any comments except to remind me how beautiful and awesome I was.
dammit. I still love him to bits...
Awe!! I wish I had a guy like that. He seems like he's totally amazing. It must feel nice to have someone to just tell you that they're there for you and care for you, and its nice that he lets you control eating and stuff to some extent but also wants to make sure your okay. :)
That's so sweet! I moved in with my boyfriend (now fiance) after a couple of months too. He's pretty supportive of it. At least he tries. He does worry about me but he'll buy the super low cal foods with the shopping and make light meals for us. But he also has a nasty habit- I don't know if he means to or not- of saying something like "I just remembered. We have those meatballs/ice cream/cheese in the freezer/fridge". He does it just before dinner time so I'm already planning to eat and it drives me mad because it's so hard to resist at that point. I think he just forgets though.
Generally he's very supportive, although obviously a little worried too.
