I have polish farm woman calves. They're hideous and genetic and they look so gross in skinny jeans, I look like a heffer. Since I've been doing more and more cardio recently I'm kind of afraid that they'll get bigger and I wouldn't be able to deal with that. Are there any exercises anyone knows of that can help tone and slim down the size of them?

Yoga is supposed to work your muscles and burn calories but instead of bulking up, it helps simply lengthen. So you could try incorporating yoga or pillates into your daily workout routine!
Also, after running or working out, make sure to do plenty of stretching as it also helps avoid bulking up.

I am in your boat 100%, I nearly died laughing at the polish farm woman thing. I can't wear skinny jeans or even boots because they look so stupid.
Yoga is def a winner, and so is long distance running. No bicycle/hill climing/stair stepper etc. You have to go for endurence cardio not anything that will build muscle.

I definitely need to try some yoga or something. My calves are huge even when I don't workout! It's ridiculous.

Great ideas! Thanks. I'm going to try doing yoga and some of the leg and butt pilates exercises and see if they make a difference. I want thin legs :( I want to be able to wear skinny jeans and feel like they suit me.

I'm glad you posted this, as it's been useful to me as well!

I also hate my big legs, & my calves are getting to me. I do a lot of walking, but instead of slimming down my legs (I was particularly aiming for my thighs, actually), it seems to have just bulked my calves up big time. I don't think that there's much fat on my calves (there's enough elsewhere though!), but HATE that they're so muscley too.

I've been told to do pilates for physio reasons, so maybe I should give that or some yoga exercises a try.

Thanks for the tips everyone. :)
