I'm getting quite strong chest pains in the centre of my chest.
I don't normally get pains in the center.
I'm also having quite a few palpitations.
Can someone please reassure me that I'm overreacting and need to calm down?

I'd love to tell you that it's nothing to worry about, but it very well might be.
I've been having really weird chest pains and irregular heartbeat a lot lately.
Especially today. It's scary.
I hope we're okay.

So do I. :(
These pains have now been present constantly since 3pm. I'm worried...
What kind of pains are you getting?

It feels really really tight and weird. It's like someone reached inside my chest, grabbed my heart and just decided to turn in complete around in a clockwise formation. Ha. Does that make sense?

Oddly, I do know what you mean. My chest (not sure if I ought to say heart, because the pain's dead centre) feels very constricted...It's a case of taking short breaths. It was slightly better when I was lying down on my side...
Ah, the joys of eating disorders!
"Omgzz guys, how do u purge?"...I think this is a damn good reason not to get into it.

this thread is already quite old but still: if youre feeling like everytime you breathe in theres a stabbing pain in your chest area that gets better if you only take shallow little breaths it may quite likely be a symptom of pneunomia
To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts._and_symptoms
but whenever youre feeling like your chest gets "tight" or like theres pressure i and everybody else could only tell you to please, please, please see a doctor about it, because even if it may not be a heart attack every time it may still be one - or an early symptom that youre developing a serious heart problem
please take care

Thanks for the advice. I don't think it's pneumonia; I can take deep breaths, it's just more comfortable to take shallow ones.
I rang nhs direct and they said the out of hours doctor is a good idea...but I can't really get there, so I'm making an appointment for first thing tomorrow with my GP.
If nothing else, I'm due some blood test results so it's worth going down there anyway.

Hm. I realize that this is about a week old, but I experienced the same thing. I freaked out pretty majorly though and went to the hospital. Doctor ran a jillion tests and it turns out I was just dehydrated. He said I could also have acid reflux, which can be caused due to a lack of food. it will sometimes make the muscles in your chest spasm, causing your heart to hurt.
just my two cents. drink lots of water and try to rest for a couple days if its possible. its what helps for me whenever this sort of thing starts happening.

Ha, I like this ^
Anyway, this is an old thread, but PLEASE, everyone, take heart/chest pains seriously, especially if you've been purging or taking diet pills. Please don't assume it's not a big deal and hope it'll pass, because it could be really bad. (believe me, I've had my share of heart trouble)
I hope everyone's okay.
Lots of love,
Molly
